I'll have to go with Grease 2 on this one. It was just a rehash, with just the lead roles reversed - this time the good boy falls for the bad girl. There was no spark. Xanadu was cheesy, too, but at least it tried to be fresh and imaginative.
I have a confession to make - I have both soundtracks on CD and listen to them quite often!! |

I've never seen Xanadu, but Grease 2 was really bad. Of course, I don't like the original Grease either. It is strange that John Travolta turned down Grease 2 but agreed to do that truly awful Staying Alive..

Grease 2 is probably the only example of a pointless musical sequel to a musical movie, but I have to say that Xanadu is worse.

It is interesting that Michelle Pfeiffer did all her own singing in the movie/soundtrack, years before The Fabulous Baker Boys! (FBB is a terrific flick, btw.)

The Fabulous Baker Boys is a good movie. If I remember correctly, it is from 1988. Michelle is really sexy in it.

I haven't seen Xanadu, but Grease 2 is really bad. I don't like it. Its stupid and the songs are really cheesy. Its probably the worst sequel to a musical. Grease is one of my all time favorite musicals.
