Question Can anyone become a sugar addict?

Is it possible to develop an addiction to sugar, like someone who is a crack addict? A girl on the web once posted that her boyfriend was hooked on sugar and used it to get high(or hyper). Is she blowing things out of pproportion?

Yep, sugar is definitely addicting! Why do you think kids who consume a lot sugar just crave it all the time? It gives you a sugar high at the moment, and then you end up crashing later on. Hence, why kids "bounce off the wall" after consuming so much sugar.

I believe people get hooked on sugar. I like it a bit too much myself, but I'm not crazy over it. I definitely have a sweet tooth.

You can get addicted to anything if you put your mind to it.

Can you imagine someone going to rehab for a "sugar" addiction?

Sugar addiction is very real. It counts for a lot of the obesity going on in this country. Ten to twenty years ago or so, I was extremely addicted to soda and candy bars.

Developing an addiction to sugar isn't very hard when you consider the fact that it's a primary ingredient in many manufactured foods such as candy, cookies, soda, cereal, peanut butter, ketchup, ice-cream etc... The list goes on and on.

I know. It's hard not to eat too much sugar nowadays. It's in things you don't think it would be in, because they aren't "sweet" tasting.

I'm trying to eat as little sugar as possible, outside on can of regular pop a day, and it's tough sometimes. There's high fructose corn syrup (which is awful to a diet) in damn crackers! You'd think eating Ritz wouldn't be so bad, but there it is...HFCS.

That and being a diabetic is why I switched to diet sodas but I drink them sparingly. Before that, I was drinking an average of 15-20 cans per day and with 10 teaspoons of sugar per 12 ounce can, I certainly wasn't doing my health any favors.

Oh wow...most I've ever done is 2 a day. But when I switched to one regular and one diet, I lost weight. Which I still find odd, but it happened. Not huge amounts...maybe 5-10 pounds, but still. And just because of one less can of sugar.

I obsess over sugar intake too much. You'd think I was diabetic and needed to watch it for a reason. I have no idea what my salt, fat, carb, etc intake is though.

I'm a diabetic too and had to switch to diet soda's. I would never drink water and it finally caught up with me. I used to drink Mountain Dew around the clock. Now it taste way too sweet.

I love diet Mountain Dew, Probably the best tasting diet drink out there along with caffeine free diet Coke.
