Was "Stand-In For Murder" really THAT incomplete? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

As we all know, the 1954 version of "Stand-In For Murder" was cut short because it ran overtime, and because of that, it was remade in 1955. But after watching it over last night, I started to think, how much more material could have been in the script? Now, I haven't seen the 1955 remake because MPI hasn't made it available, so I can't compare the two...but even still, the ending of the 1954 version, while it did seem rushed, pretty much got the point across. I mean, we never really see the crooks get arrested and whatnot in those kind of episodes anyway. Take "Trapped," for example...Norton escorts the crooks out of the apartment and then Ralph gives his usual ending speech. THAT, to me, was the only thing really missing at the end of "Stand-In For Murder." An apology to Alice was definitely in order, especially after she "told him so," but other than that, what did we really miss? I'd definitely love to see the complete version to see how everything plays out, but I just thought I'd see how others felt about this.

I wouldn't think much more would need to be added to this episode either. The only thing I could see would be a shot of them back at their apartment and Ralph -like you said- apologizing for everything. Other wise I think it ended perfect...a little rushed lol but perfect.

I agree with what's being said here. I always thought the episode was a little rushed but it ended in a good way.
