I never realized until a few days ago that Laura Branigan was not the original singer of Self Control. It was first sung by an Italian guy named RAF in 1983.

This isnt that strange...songs that are popular in Europe ( often in a language other than Eng ) are sometimes rewritten or redone by North American singers; a really interesting example is Frank Sinatras "signature" song I did it my way ......believe it or not, this began as a French song by Claude Francois called "Comme d'habitude" ( as Usual )....Sadly, Claude Francois was electrocuted to death in 1978, trying to fix a loose lightbulb in his bathroom , at the age of 39!
