Default Back to You Premieres Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 8pm ET/PT on Fox

BACK TO YOU
(Wednesdays, 8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT)

In the ‘90s, the local TV news scene in Pittsburgh was dominated by one team: CHUCK DARLING (Kelsey Grammer) and KELLY CARR (Patricia Heaton). They had that elusive quality all news teams need: chemistry ... at least on-screen. Off-screen, Chuck was a bit of a self-centered womanizer, Kelly a bit of an uptight know-it-all. When Chuck grabbed the chance to move up to a larger market, no tears were shed.

But after an embarrassing on-air tirade ended up on the Internet, Chuck found himself on the downswing career-wise. He even questioned whether his lifestyle of chasing women and living in hotels was as exciting as it used to be. So when he got the call to return to Pittsburgh, to reunite with Kelly and try to take the newscast back to No. 1, it was an offer he couldn’t refuse.

Back in Pittsburgh, Chuck and Kelly reteam with familiar faces including MARSH McGINLEY (Fred Willard), the affable, endlessly inappropriate sports anchor, and GARY CREZYZEWSKI, pronounced Kre-shoov-ski (Ty Burrell), the perennially put-upon field reporter who always seems to get left out in the cold; and they have a few new coworkers: RYAN CHURCH (Josh Gad), the under qualified, overstressed news director, and MONTANA DIAZ HERRERA (Ayda Field), the perky, sexy, somewhat inept weather anchor. But perhaps the biggest change is that Kelly is now single mom to 10-year-old GRACIE (Laura Marano).

There was magic between Chuck and Kelly once. Can they find it again?

BACK TO YOU is created, written and executive-produced by Steven Levitan (“Just Shoot Me!,” “Frasier,” “Wings”) and Christopher Lloyd (“Frasier,” “The Golden Girls”). James Burrows is executive producer and director. The series is from Levitan/Lloyd Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television.

We will have a review of the pilot closer to the premiere date.

The pilot is just OK, but the series could get better obviously. It certainly would have been better for CBS Monday. I am not sure if it can do as well on Fox, especially against the much hyped Pushing Daisies (best new series hands down) on ABC, Deal or no Deal on NBC, and the buzz worthy new show Kid Nation on CBS.
We'll see, I guess. I think 3rd in its timeslot behind Daisies and Deal.

You make some good points, but I really think FOX is going to make every effort to make this show succeed. If that means switching it to another day, so be it.

I think this is the best bet that sitcoms have for a major hit. If Kelsey and Patricia can't do it, I don't think anybody can.

Great point, I will be so dismayed if this sitcom fails.

Oh yeah, if they can make that garbage 'Til Death return, then this will indeed last the season.

LOL I agree, that show is garbage. It does make an interesting pairing though.

Yeah it isn't that great of a show but it had a major ratings boost and was in the Top Ten post-Idol...that's I think the reason why it was brought back. If it still had the awful ratings it had early on it would probably've been canceled either in midseason or it would've lasted the full season but it wouldn't be renewed for a complete second season.

I'm also hoping this show will do well, but Ppushing Daisies is gonna be a hard show to beat, since I also want to watch that one, too. I'm certain it'll be moving timeslots soon after it's premiere, maybe to Monday or Tuesday nights.

Since it ahs a really proffessional and wellknown cast, I'm sure it's premiere is going to do really well. But, I think the same thin gthat happened to 8 Simple Rules is going to happen to this show. It's premiere was really well taken and promoted, but after that, ratings slipped.

It lost over 60% of the Idol audience though...it was brought back for one reason: to air with Back to You. Fox doesn't have another sitcom besides animation. War at Home, The Loop, The Winner did terrible. Happy Hour was even worse than 'Til Death, if that's even possible.

Yeah but The War At Home lasted two seasons--okay for Fox. Yeah The Winner tanked and The Loop and Happy Hour being worse than 'Til Death--I agree. 'Til Death was not the best but I watched its entire pilot. Happy Hour on the other hand--I shut off the TV after a few minutes because I found it so unfunny that I couldn't bear to watch the whole episode.
