"Perfect Love" new fan fic

**OK, I thought this one up late last night around midnight or so when thinking about FOL fan fics... so it might be a little choppy, I don't know!!**



(Edna's Edibles. Jo is scrubbing a counter with a dazed look on her face. Tootie and Nat have noticed it and come over to investigate)
Tootie: Jo?
Jo: Yeah?
Natalie: Anything happen today at Langley?
Jo: Only the best thing in the world.
Tootie: Which is...?
Jo: Love.
Natalie: Love?
Jo: I met a really nice guy.
Tootie: And...?
Jo: His name is Josh.. Josh Davis.
Natalie: Cute name!
Jo: Doesn't Jo Davis sound great?
(Tootie and Natalie stare at each other)
Natalie: Uh..
Jo: But we don't even call each other Josh and Jo.
Tootie: You don't?
Jo: He loves motorcycles and is from the Bronx. I can't believe I never met him before...
Tootie: What do you call him?
Jo: Well, you used to call me Mr. Goodwrench, right?
Tootie: Uh-huh.
Jo: I'm Mrs. Goodwrench and he's Mr. Goodwrench. Sort of like "pet names".
Natalie: This is serious and you've only known him for less than a day!
Jo: What's wrong with that? (continues scrubbing) We're going out tomorrow night.
(Blair comes in, carrying flowers)
Blair: Jo, these are for you.
Jo: They are?
Blair: From a "Mr. Goodwrench."
Jo (grabbing them from Blair): Thank you.
Blair (to Tootie and Natalie): What's up with her?
Tootie (mimicking Jo): Love...

(I've got to go now... some kind of school party that's two hours from 12 to 2 so I'll be back around 3:30 to POSSIBLY finish it up... if not today then tomorrow, I promise! What do you think of it? Email me or post! hehe )

Jo: That cute guy I met today.
Blair: Josh Davis? That guy you were practically hanging on?
Natalie: I think Jo's sick. "hanging on a guy" and "Jo" in the same sentence suddenly makes my stomach turn.
Jo: Why? It makes my stomach feel wonderful!
Tootie: They're also going out tomorrow night.
Jo: And tonight.
Natalie: Tonight? You didn't mention tonight! Tonight's your work shift because Mrs. Garrett has something with her son tonight!
Jo: Natalie, Natalie, Natalie. You can do it for me.
Tootie: Because she's got *Mr. Goodwrench* tonight. (rolls her eyes). C'mon, Nat, let's get started.
Blair: Wait for me. I`ve suddenly got to work too. (she looks at Jo for a second before joining Nat and Tootie.)
Jo: Have fun! (smiles) I know I will.

(at a cafe that night)
Jo: How long did you live in the Bronx for?
Josh: Until I went to Bates at sixteen.
Jo: You went to Bates? I went to Eastland!
Josh: Maybe we saw each other.
Jo: But wouldn't know each other until now.
(they kiss just a little)
Josh: So, Jo, I was wondering...
Jo: Yes?
Josh: Umm, I know I only have known you for a day, but already I've fallen in love with you.
Jo: And...?
Josh: Would you marry me if I asked you to?
(Jo chokes a little on her Coke)
Jo: Is this a proposal?
Josh: If you can call it that.

(Jo sighs and looks thoughtfully at Josh)
Jo: I guess.

Sorry... I've got to go now and study for a stupid English test I've got tomorrow. I'll try to fit some in later tonight or tomorrow, but it will be done in the next two days ! I promise!!

Jo: Well, I almost married two years ago. I'd like to think about it before I'm ending up planning a wedding for once.
Josh: You almost married?
Jo: Yeah.
Josh: What made you change your mind?
Jo: The fact I was too young. Well, that and Mrs. Garrett - the former dietician at Eastland - changing my mind.
Josh: You're not too young now, are you? You're in college now, not just high school.
Jo: How long will you give me to think?
Josh: As long as you need.
Jo: I'll tell you tomorrow.

(Later that evening - back at Edna's Edibles)
Mrs. Garrett: So where'd Jo go tonight?
Natalie: Out with her new friend.
Blair: New? I wouldn't be surprised if Jo came home saying she got a marriage proposal!
Tootie: At the rate Jo talks about him, we'd probably hear wedding bells by next week!
Mrs. Garrett: Honestly girls, I don't think Jo's getting married.
(Jo walks in)
Jo: Guess what!
Tootie: You're getting married?
(Jo's smile leaves her face)
Jo: What'd you guys do, spy on me or something?
Tootie: W-w-what do you mean?
Jo: If I just say "yes" to Josh, I'm going to get married!
Natalie: I'm hearing wedding bells.
Mrs. Garrett: You won't say "yes", will you? You know what happened a couple years ago!
Jo: That's different. As Josh says, "You're in college now, not just high school." Lots of people get married in college.
Blair: And you'll be one of them?
Jo: Probably!

Tootie: When would your wedding be?
Jo: Sometime over spring vacation or something like that.
Mrs. Garrett: That's anytime now!
Jo: So?
Mrs. Garrett: So hold off on getting married!
Jo: But... but...
Blair: She's right.
Tootie: You gotta hand it to Mrs. G for great advice!
Natalie: She's the "Dear Abby" of Peeskill!
Jo: I want to get married! And he's the one! He's...
Mrs. Garrett: Go work on your shift, Jo.

(Here's some more... like I said, I'm really sorry this has been in bits and pieces, but before spring break next Friday, my teachers are giving us in every subject tests all next week!)

(That evening. Jo angrily works on her shift)
Jo: They don't understand. They don't understand how he's the one for me and vice versa. They'll never know.
(Mrs. Garrett walks over)
Mrs. Garrett: Jo...
Jo: Mrs. Garrett, you don't understand.
Mrs. Garrett: I do. When I was in college, I fell in love with this very nice boy that we shared everything and anything in common with - but then he gave me a proposal.
Jo: Really? Did you say yes?
Mrs. Garrett: I told him "No."
Jo: But your love was perfect - everything in common, just like me and Josh.
Mrs. Garrett: I told him, "I'm your friend. I'm glad to be known as your friend but I'm not ready to be known as your wife."
Jo: Did he take it hard?
Mrs. Garrett: It took him a while. But I'd say it to Josh and I'm sure he'll understand.
Jo: But I won't understand in my mind why I shouldn't marry him.

Jo: I've avoided him all morning.
Blair: I can tell. You're actually walking with me to class for a change. Maybe I'll get used to it after you talk to him.
(Jo glares at her)
Blair: Didn't mean it like that.
Jo(walks quicker and notices him): There he is. It's now or never.
(she walks away from Blair and over to Josh)
Jo: Hi Josh.
Josh: How's it going?
Jo: We need to talk.
Josh: About marriage?
Jo: Yeah.
Josh: I agree.
Jo: You do?
Josh: I don't think it's time for us to get married.
Jo: You don't?
Josh: I don't mind being known as your friend but your husband's different.
(Jo remembers what Mrs. Garrett has said and realizes Josh has said something around those lines, but not quite)
Jo: You're saying you don't care being known as my friend but you don't want to be known as my husband?
Josh: Or whatever someone told me to say if we decided not to get married. Anyway, you thought...
Jo: I think you were trying to say I like being known as your friend, but I'm not ready to be known as your husband.
Josh: Probably.
Jo: I feel the same way.
Josh: So you just want to be friends?
Jo: Fine with me. You want to walk to class?
Josh: Sure.
Jo: Let's go before we're late.
(They walk off together as... the end!)
