Here is some news finally...but it isn't anything about national:

RTN to Launch in Raleigh-Durham

Aug. 15 -- Retro Television Network (RTN), which is owned and distributed by Equity Media Holdings Corporation (Nasdaq: EMDA), announced today that it will partner with Capitol Broadcasting to bring RTN programming to Raleigh-Durham. The new affiliate will launch Sept. 10 on Capitol Broadcasting's WRAZ-DT, a station that reaches more than 22 counties in North Carolina.

RTN is a new television network that provides each affiliate a customized feed with classic hit shows, in addition to local programming including news, weather and sports. RTN is specifically designed to go on a broadcast digital channel and provides local broadcasters with a way to get ratings and successfully monetize their digital spectrum."

The digital revolution has begun to take shape and it is clear that RTN and WRAZ will be leading the charge in Raleigh Durham," said Mark Dvornik, RTN's Executive Vice President. "RTN brings a powerful brand to each market and WRAZ joins a growing list of affiliates looking to monetize their spectrum with a branded localized network."

"I'm a big fan of the classic programs on RTN", said Capitol Broadcasting President and CEO Jim Goodmon. "This is a great broadcast service with family- friendly programming, and we are looking forward to bringing it to the market and adding more local programs to it as we move forward."

And now I wish I still lived in Raleigh. At least RTN has gained a market. One step closer to being national. Now if they would gain a market in the Milwaukee area and I'd be extremely happy.

This is good news it's launching in so many places, but how many people are actually able to get these channels? Do you get them with HD cable/satellite/whatever? I don't fully understand the HD thing.

It's not HD channels. RTN affiliates are on local channels' DT feed. So if you have digital cable you can watch RTN. Like WTEN in Albany is an ABC affiliate, so obviously on the regular feed we get ABC programming in primetime...on WTEN-DT we get RTN programming. So you need digital cable to watch RTN.
