Default Should a Pregnancy be Written into a Season Finale or a Series Finale?

There have been some shows who included a pregnancy into the FINAL SCRIPT which I felt was odd because if the show is ending why have a pregnamcy in the final show? That kind of leaves a open hole in the series that will never be filled. So do you think it's better for a pregnancy to be in the SEASON FINALE which of course would set up the Following season.

Shows that have included a pregnancy in the LAST episode were Good Times and A Different World

I knew when I read this, you were automatically talking about A Different World and Good Times. Anyways, I think there are 2 possiblilities to that. Either they thought they were getting picked up for another season (why?) or they want to leave an open gap in the seies, for us as the viewers to use our imaginations. THey did that kind of with The Wonder Years finale, too, and I know theyintended for us to use our imaginations to wonder what would happen next.

No, but they left a gap in the show, for us as the viewers to fill in ourselves.

Birth would make more sense to be in the first ep of the last season

i'd prefer it as a series finale, as it would be one way of bringing some closure to the show, although it very much depends on the characters who are involved. if one or both persons are involved and one of them is someone who is easily dislikable, then definitely not as a series finale but if the people involved in the pregnancy storyline are a couple we are fans of, then yes and that it should be written as a series finale to wrap up the programme

You don;t think Marriage is a better way to wrap up the show instead of a pregnancy?

Usually, series finales are either someone getting married, someone moving, or someone having a baby. There's not many out there other than those 3.

hmmm... it could be, i mean it could work: what with the pair getting married and later on having a child or two of their own. the reason why i suggested the series finale would work best is because if it happened this way, then the pair would be able to put all their past troubles and woes behind them afterwards and move on forward with their lives. and as a series finale, it means that once its done, we as the viewers wouldn't be left wondering whether the guy and the girl will ever get married and become a couple for good and have their own children

Well, perhaps, but its become a bit of a cliche...a pregnancy is a bit of a twist on that.....strangely, there was a time pregnancy was considered taboo on TV...Even Lucy couldnt say the words "Im pregnant" back in the 50s!
Now of course, it seems nearly every show not only has a pregnancy over its course, but, they insist on showing the natural childbirth delivery right on the show......WHICH I COULD DO WITHOUT, THANK YOU
