Default Confessions of a retail worker

I saw this on another forum. Add your own.

1) Your satisfaction means nothing to me. I don't care how much you buy, how little you buy, if you ever come back, or if you call corporate headquarters when you get home. I just don't care.

2) I'm making 8 bucks an hour, don't expect me to [edited before I posted it] to make a 20 dollar sale. I will do just enough so I don't get fired, and that's not a lot. [edited this too, probably not appropriate]

3) My manager barely speaks english, so fine, talk to him all you want.

4) If I sell you an 'extended warranty', I get a $5 gift card to McDonalds. That should be a big enough hint NOT to buy an extended warranty.

5) If there is a perfectly good product on the floor and you make me climb 15 feet up a ladder to get another one because 'that box is dented', I will make a voodoo doll of you when I get home and do unspeakable things to it.

6) If a shelf is empty and you ask me to go 'check in the back for more', I will go in the back, stand around for a few minutes then come back and tell you we're out.

7) Yes I dropped the box when I was unloading it off the truck. Yes it is probably broken. No, theres nothing you can do about it. Learn it. Live it. Love it.

8) If you see me walking around the store with a scanner and a pallet jack, I am a stocker. No I cant tell you the features and benefits of that TV. The only thing I can tell you is how much it weighs.

9) Yes I hit your car with a cart when I was wrangling them. Refer to #7.

Found some more:

From personal experience though, I'd have to say the cashiers get the worst of it from customers.

I, for one, hate it when you give me 35 coupons, then come back 20 minutes after I did your order and ask why I only put in 34 coupons. No, I don't know what happened to it, and no, I can't look for it because I'm in the middle of an order and I can't open the register, and it would be lost among the thousands of other coupons anyway.

I, for one, hate it when a customer tells me something rang wrong, says the right price is in the circular, then when I show them that they were wrong and the price is right (no bob barker), they go ape**** and tell me that isn't the flyer they saw, it must be next week's.

I, for one, hate it when you tell me not to scan something until you get it all on the belt. Yes, that was just my manager who told me I can go on break, and I have 4 more customers on line after you buddy.

I, for one, hate it when some dip**** tries to tell me they gave me a 20 when they gave me a 10. You didn't, and I'm not going to give you $10 back for it.

I, for one, hate it when you report me for not scanning your price plus card. It would say on your receipt if you would've saved on any items, and you wouldn't have, so it would make no difference anyway. And as a result, I get the wrath of my dumb boss.

I, for one, hate it during the holidays when they have an offer for the free turkey with $300 in purchases on your price plus card, and you try to convince me that even though you have $298.14 on your card, I should be able to give you the turkey anyway. You don't have enough. You're $1.96 short, and the computer won't let me do **** anyway.

I, for one, hate it when an item rings up $3.99, you say its $3.89, and insist that I call a manager to resolve the price, only to hold up the line and frustrate the rest of the customers, all of whom will take it out on me, then tell me to just return it after the manager comes back and tells you it is $3.89.

I, for one, hate it when my light is off, and my line is empty, and you still come to my register with puppy dog eyes asking me if I am closed. Yes, I'm closed, and no, I don't care that you only have 5 items. Go to a damn express register.

I, for one, hate it when I am on break and you still ask me where something is and expect me to help you. Sure, I might help if I'm in a particularly chipper mood (not likely), but you didn't get the hint that I was on break from the fact that my collar is loosened, my apron is tucked into my pant pocket, and I have food in my hands and my mouth?

I, for one, hate it when you are talking on the phone, then get annoyed when I try to tell you the price. Sorry, Mr. Networking, just trying to do my job for once.

I, for one, hate when people bring a coupon that clearly states that you must purchase an additional $15 worth of items to redeem the coupon, but they come to me with just the one item and wonder why it doesn't work.

I, for one, hate it when people tell me to get everything in one bag, so that it is stuffed as tight as it'll go, only for it to break on them and blame me.

I, for one, hate it when people stand there and do nothing while I have to bag their $300 order (I know it's not their job, but if I'm on register and don't have a bagger, its called common courtesy. I bag for myself when I shop, hell. Its quicker.)

I, for one, hate it when you proceed to wrap all of your meat (wow that came out so wrong) in plastic bags, then complain when I have to take each package of beef, chicken, and turkey out so scan it because the scanner doesn't scan through the bag.

I, for one, hate it when I have no divider for the belt, and people continue to push their stuff back, hold their arms in front of it, yell at me that this is where their stuff starts, etc, as the belt moves forward. Believe it or not, just because I work here doesn't mean I'm an idiot. I have eyes, smart one, and I know that is your stuff. Now stop talking to me like an idiot before I make you cry.

I mean, honestly, I am a decent person, I really am. But this job is just so awful, so dreadful, I'm surprised I haven't quit yet. It must just be all the hot women my age I come across around there.
