Where I live we have to do these stupid things called writing portfolios (i'm probably not the only one, either)
Anyway, I had to do a short story, and I needed to do a FOL FanFic, so I did both at once. Clever, huh? ------------------ Andy: C'Mon Ms. Garrett, throw us a song. Ms. G.: Born in the U.S.S.R. |

Have fun!! I see you're also from KY and I was doing the same thing three years ago. My sister is a senior this year and is at the moment trying to pull her's together. I hated those things and can definitely remember those fun days. My major problem with KERA isn't the portfolios (the math one's were stupider-they got rid of those my senior year so I escaped!) but the KIRIS tests. For two weeks at my high school all classes were basically suspended while the juniors took the test, sophomore's prepared to take the test, freshmen got to take fun field trips, and seniors worked on senior projects. I started the math exam at 8:30 and finished at 2:45, the science took me just as long, and two others took me until well after noon. No matter what Bush said, schools are teaching the tests and it needs to stop. Stupidity at it's best. I hope you write a "distinguished" fanfic and I can rant more on KERA if you want to hear it!!
I had to add this in but my school tried to bribe us with final exam exemptions if you got a proficient or a distinguished. Even better were the t-shirts that said: Frankfort High Students are: and then had the four levels, with distinguished check marked. My class finished 13th in the state the year we took it, we didn't need any bribery! [This message has been edited by lesliem14 (edited 03-01-2001).] |

most of us have to be bribed just to score apprentice. As for me, I have to be bribed to score distinguished, just kidding! I don't need to be bribed (although trips to Kentucky Kingdom are nice!)

I wish we could've gone to Kentucky Kingdom. I think I won a certificate for a free thing of Potato Ole's at Taco John's. The stupid thing about the final exam exemptions was that most of the people who scored an apprentice or distinguished would've been exempted anyway. I took a total of 4 finals in high school.

DId I mention it is a story about the reunion. In it, well, I'll just post it when I get done. (in word though, it is already 4 pages in 14pt font.)
