NATALIE'S SISTER
Season # 6
In the Shop Jo and Blair are working natalie and tootie walk in

Natalie: Well we'd better get going (she zips up her jacket) I'm suppose to meet Stephanie at the bus station in 30 minutes

Tootie: I'll go with you (tootie graps her jacket from the back of a chair and puts it on) I can't believe it's been 3 years since you last saw her

Natalie: (smiling) I know this is going to be a great family renioun (yelling into the kitchen) Mrs. Garrett we gotta get going

Mrs. Garrett: (rushing out) Ok I'm coming Blair Jo you both know what to do I'm counting on you
Blair: Don't worry mrs. Garrett we have everything under control
Mrs. garrett: We'll be back in 1 hour (mrs. garrett, Natalie, and tootie leave)

About 10 minutes later a teenage girl enters the shop
Jo: Oh Blair would you mind helping her I have to get some cookies out of the oven (jo goes into the kitchen just as Blair helps the girl
Blair: Hi can I help you with something
Girl costomer: (her head is peeked near the pasta barrells) No thanks I was just looking for someone (she says it with a little bit of shock)
Blair: Oh will I'm pretty sure you won't find them in the pasta barrell
Girl costomer: Funny! (looks up from the pasta) (blair starts to walk away and the girl follows her) Actually I was looking for my cousin
Blair: (Blair turns to face her and Jo comes back into the room with a try of freshly bakes cookies) you must be Stephanie Natalie's cousin
Stepahine: right and you must be Blair. (they shake hands)Natalie's written me all about you girls
Jo: Nice to meet you I'm Jo (jo extends her hand to and they shake)
Stephanie: Hi Jo it's nice to meet you. Where's Natalie
Blair: She went to meet you at the Bus station
Stephanie: Oh no I forget to call to let her know I got an earlier bus
Jo: No problem I'll just call over to the station and have mrs. Garrett paged. (Jo makes the call to the bus station) Hi can you please page someone….. oh you can't……no it's not…..well then could you give a message to someone……not unless it's an emergency………thanks for nothing (hangs up the phone a little loudly)

While Blair and Jo wait on the coustomer. Stephanie waits for natalie to return about an hour later they return

Natalie: I can't believe this Stephanie wasn't at the station (she finally spots her sitting down on a chair drinking hot coco) Stephanie where were you. (goes over and gives her cousin a hug)
Stephanie: Oh sorry Natalie I took an eariler bus and I didn't' feel like waiting around the station so I took a cab over here
Mrs. garrett: (puts her hand on her shoulder and gives her a tiny smile) Well next time call and let somebody know your plans
Stephanie: sure is there a place where I can get changed
Natalie: Oh sure I'll show you where your going to be staying (Natalie graps Stephanie's bag and they head upstairs)
Mrs. garrett: she sure seems nice
Jo: a little flity if you ask me, but I'm sure she'll grow out of it
Steve: (Steve Blair's boyfriend enters the shop with a huge smile on his face) Blair how's my favorite blond
Jo: what are you asking her for
Mrs. Garrett: (starts to laugh a little) Jo hi Steve how's it going
Steve: great now that I finished 3 term papers and I got a date tonight with my best girl
Jo: (jo takes the cookies off the cookie sheet and places them on plates) I thought you were going out with Blair tonight
Mrs. Garrett: (still smiling at Jo) Jo can you come help me in the kitchen (Mrs. garrett and Jo head into the kitchen and Tootie helps a male coustomer that came into the shop)
Steve: (sitting down on a chair next to Blair) Blair I'm afaird I have to cancel for tonight
Blair: my perfect dating record gone (starts to get a little upset)
Steve: excuse me (having no idea what she meant)
Blair: Oh nothing what happened
Steve: my brother's here visiting from Valley Academdy and I don't get to see him that much
Blair: I understand (she gives him a smile to show) hey how aobut we double
Steve: Are you sure you get somebody to go out with him on short notice (he gets up from his chair)
Blair: Oh trust me. (Blair gets up from her chair and follows Steve) She has nothing better to do tonight so tell me what's your brother like
Steve: nothing like me he's into sports and race car driving
Blair: he sounds perfect for her (Smiling)
Steve: Well great we'll pick you and your friend up tonight at 6:00
Blair: Great can't wait
Steve: (sounding a little concerned) But Blair theres something you should know about him he's only
Blair: (gives him a smile to show that everythings alright) Steve I'm sure your brother is fine I'll see you tonight at 6:00
(Just as Steve leave Jo and mrs. garrett come back into the shop)
Jo: Im telling you Mrs. Garrett if we opened an hour eariler every morning thing of all the business you could bring in. I bet there's a lot of people who leave for work early and would like to have a morning pastrie.
Mrs. Garrett: and just who's going to run the shop that early in the morning
Jo: (pauses for just a moment) that's up to you guys I thought of the idea
Blair: (Blair looks at Jo and is smiling really big) Ah Jo, Jo, Jo , Jo, Jo, Jo
Jo: (crosses her arms and looks at Blair with no expression on her face) I have a feeling you want something
Blair: Oh no (smile fades and she puts her arm around Jo's shoulder) I don't want anything I want to give you something
Jo: this should be good what is it
Blair: I want to give you the oppentity to spend the evening in the grace of my company
Jo: I'd rather gauge out my eye balls with my finger nails (backs away from Blair)
Blair: (in a desperate plea) Steve has to cancel our date night unless I can get a date for his brother to double
Jo: (starts to crack up) Ha ha ha you gotta be kidding me go out with Steves' brother I don't even know him and if he's anything like Steve then I definty don't want to go out with him
Blair: don't worry you he's nothing like Steve he's into sports and race car driving
Jo: Race Car driving I'm impressed (looks at Blair wimpering face and sad eyes) Oh alright I'll go out with him just stop looking at me like that your giving me the creeps
Blair: Thanks Jo (smiles at her)
(later that day after the shop closed natalie and Stepanie are sitting down in the living room on the couch)
Natalie: so how are you holding up
Stephaine: As well as I can I guess you didn't tell anybody did you
Natalie: no (gives her a smile to show she cares) you asked me not to and I respect that
Stephanie: Thanks natalie you're the best (smiles back)
Natalie: (moves her shirt up just slightly) yeah well I know
Tootie: (tootie comes downstiars) Hi guys how about we go out to dinner tonight
Natalie: great my treat where would you like to go
Stephaine: how about to a burger joint
Tootie: we can go to the Shake and Burger
Stephanie: The shake and burger (starts to laugh when she says it) sounds more like a song then a place to eat
Natalie: yeah it does get a little roudy there but the food's really good
Stephanie: sounds good to me
Tootie: no time like the present what do you say we head on over there now before the line gets to long (they each put on there jackets and head over to the Shake and Burger)

About 30 minutes later Jo is downstairs in the living room talking to Mrs. Garrett)

Mrs. Garrett: so you and Blair are doubling tonight
Jo: Yeah I'm going out with Steven's brother who would of thought me and Blair Warner double dating brothers
Mrs. Garrett: Well stranger things have happened
Blair: (Blair enters the room wearing a beatufil black dresse) I'm ready I'm I a raving beauty or what (spins around so they can get a full view of her)
Jo: not really
Blair: (walks over to Jo and is discused by her outfit) Jo your not wearing that tonight are you
Jo: what's wrong with what I'm wearing (stands up in her army clothes)
Blair: were going out to dinner not to the roller durby
Jo: (getting a little upset at all of her demands) Blair I'm not going to get all dressed up just to impress some guy I'll proberly never see again after tonight
Blair: please Jo (begging her) if you care anything about our friendship you'll go and put on a skirt
Jo: oh alright I'll be right down (she heads up stairs to get changed)
Mrs. Garrett: Well you have fun tonight
Blair: We will (mrs. Garrett leave the room and the door bell rings) oh I'd better get that. (she opens the door and Steve is standing there with a dozen roses) Steve hi
Steve: Blair these are for you.
Blair: Roses my favorite come on in. (takes the roses and peers over to the side looking for his brother) Where's your brother
Steve: Oh Blair I'd like you to meet my brother Scott
Scott: Hi (she approches from around the coner)
Blair: (Blairs face is in total shock. His brother is just a little kid) is this your brother what is this some kind of a joke
Steve: Blair what are you talking about
Blair: So your Steve's brother Steve can I talk to you for a minute over here
Steve: (Steve and Blair go over to other side of the shop) Blair what's the problem
Blair: you told me he goes to Valley academdy
Steve: he does Valley Acadmedy for young boys
Blair: Young boys (getting a little upset) oh Jo's going to love this (Jo enters the room) oh Jo I'd like you to meet Scott (pauses for a moment) Steve's brother
Jo: (starts to laugh like before) Ha ha ha ha are you kidding (blair shakes her head no) (Jo quickly stops laughing) oh your not kidding
Blair: (claps her hands together and smiles a little bit) Well let's get going shaly we
Scott: (walks up to Jo and punches her on the arm Jo makes a face like she's saying ouch) Come on Jo the night is young and so and I
Jo: great (smiling at Scott) I'm young at heart (turns to Blair with an angry look on her face) I'll get you for this Warner

(later that evening Tootie, natalie, and Stephanie come back home natalie and Tootie take off there coats and hang them in the closet. Stephanie sits on the chair next to the sofa)
Stephanie: Thanks for dinner it was great
Natalie: sure anytime (sits down on the couch. Tootie also sits down) how about a game of cards
Tootie: we had to toss the last deck away because of Blair spilled hot coco on them
Stephanie: Oh no problem (points to her bag next to where Tootie is sitting) I got some in my bag
Tootie: here you go (tootie hands her the bag. Stephanie reaches inside and pulls out her cards)
Stephanie: thanks Tootie so um what game should we play
Tootie: how about a game of gin rummy
Natalie: Ok I'll deal (stephanie hands Natalie the cards. She then shuffles and deals them out)
Stephaine: (Stephanie all of a sudden stands up with her bag) I'll be right back I have to go to the bathroom
Natalie: (natalie points upstairs to where the bathroom is) Sure it's right in there
Tootie: (turns towards the stairs and then back to Natalie with a strange expression on her face) She takes her bag with her to the bathroom
Natalie: Maybe she had something personal in there (looks at the cards but she doesn't look up at Tootie)
Tootie: Natalie (starts to raise her voice a little) please were all girls here
Natalie: I know (pauses for a second or two) but she's shy
Tootie: (after several moments of silence) hey I wonder how Blair and Jo's dates are going

Over at the restaurant Scott and Steve are standing together and Jo and Blair are standing together and talking
Jo: (sounding really annoyed) Thanks for making me get dressed up tonight Blair
Blair: (sounding just as annoyed) Well how was I suppose to know that Scott (pointing towards him) wanted to go to Rockin Roll Pizza (puts her hands on her hips) and if anybody should be complaining it should me be I'm wearing a gorgeous new dress here at a pizza joint
Steve: (Steve and Scott approach the girls and they all head for there table) are table's ready
Scott: (Steve pulls out Blair's chair and she takes a seat) (scott is to excited and wants to go play some of the games) hey Jo are you are you air hockey
Jo: I can play a pretty fair game
Scott: great let's go (Scott and Jo leave to play some air hockey)
Steve: (Steve puts his arms around Blair looks at her with passion in his eyes) Alone at last Blair I'm sorry I should of told you about Scott
Blair: (she gives him a smile) No that's ok (her smile quickly fades) well yes, yes you should of
Steve: (he looks over and sees that Jo and Scott are having a good time) but hey it all worked out
Blair: yeah I guess your right Jo and Scott seem to be having a good time
Steve: (he looks back at her with a tinkle in his eyes) but it's nice to have my girl to myself (he leans in and kisses her. Just as they were kissing a little girl and her mother were walking by)
Little girl: ew mommy there kissing (she said in discusted. The mother and daughter quickly leave Jo and Scott return to the table)
Blair: So how was the game
Jo: (smiling really big) not as good as the game you were playing
Blair: I'm sure I don't' know what your talking about
Jo: Nice lipstick Steve but I think pink is more your shade Blair (Steve faces turns about as pink as the lipstick he takes a napkin and wipes it off)
Blair: Oh ha ha is the pizza coming soon I'm starved
Jo: what's wrong Blair all that kissing where you out (Scott and Jo sit down at the table)
Blair: excuse me I'm going to the ladies room to freshen up (she stands up and grabs her purse exits to the ladies room)
Scott: (leans back in the booth and starts to band the silver wear on the table) when's the pizza coming I'm hungry
Steve: (grabs the silver wear from him and sets it back down on the table) it will be here shortly just wait
Scott: I can wait, but my stomach can't
Jo: (trying not to get upset) I'll tell you (he hands Scott a breadstick) what have a bread stick that should help tide you over
Steve: (just then the waiter comes with there pizza( Oh no need here comes the pizza now
Jo: Great I'm was getting hungry myself (Just as the waiter leaves Blair returns to the table and they all start eating)

(Natalie and Stephanie are upstairs in the bedroom in a heavy discusion. Tootie is downstairs reading her lines for a play)
Natalie: Stephanie what are gonnea do
Stephanie: I don't know what can I do I always new something like this could happen
Natalie: yeah but your only 18
Stephaine: Natalie it can strike at anytime age doesn't matter
Natalie: have you signed up for the treatments
Stephaine: No (pauses for a moment) I don't even know if I'm going to take the treatments there are no guarnettes (she stands up and looks away from natalie)
Natalie: no guarntess (Natalie stands up and Stephanie turns back towards her with tears in her eyes) Stephaine how could you say that
Stephanie: my mom went through the treatments. She did everything the doctors said but she didn't make it
Natalie: Oh my god (she puts her hand over her mouth for a second) Stephanine I'm sorry (she hugs Stephanie to show her she cares)
Stephaine: Natalie I don't know what to do (She starts to cry even harder now and sits down on the bed. Natalie sits down next to her and puts her arm around her shoulder)
Natalie: have you told your father yet
Stephanie: not yet (shaking her head no)
Natalie: you have to tell him he has to know
Stephanie: (gets up walks to the other side of the room and turns back towards her) Natalie when my mom was sick and lying in the hospital my dad sat by her bedside all the time he wanted her to see his face first thing in the morning and the last thing before she went to sleep at night. Finally he realized that all the medications, and the machines weren't doing any good do you have any idea how much that killed my father……
Natalie: Stephanine (cutting her off she stands up and walks towards her) you don't have to go on
Stephaine: I can't put my dad through that pain again (shaking her head a little) I just can't
Natalie: Stephanie (she puts her hands on her shoulders for support) your dad loves you he can help (natalie and Stephanie look at each other and the sceen is cut back downstairs in the living room. Blair Jo, Scott and Steve return from there dinner)
Blair: (laughing as the enters the room) ha ha we almost had you in the last round
Tootie: (stands up and turns towards everyone) hi guys how was the date
Jo: (smiling really big) not bad I had a really good time
Steve: (he helps Blair off with her coat and hangs it in the closet) yeah will we'd better get going night Blair
Blair: night Steve (puts his arm around her and kisses her)
Scott: (Scott has a puppy dog look in his eyes and he looking right at Jo) night Jo
Jo: (laughs just a tiny bit. Leans over and kisses Scott on the cheek) night Scott
Scott: Oh wow (his eyes get super wide, and he places his hand on the cheek Jo just kissed) I'll never wash my cheek again
Steve: (graps his brother hands) Like you ever do
Blair: night guys (Scott and Steve leave and Blair shuts the door) well now that was an enjoyable evening
Jo: yeah I have to admit Steve's younger brother is pretty cool (takes off her coat and hangs it in the closet)
Blair: (smiling walking up to her) do you think he's cool enough to go out with again tomorrow night
Jo: (shuts the closet door and turns back to Blair) Don't push it Blair
Blair: (Blair and Jo walk over to the sofa where Tootie is) where's natalie and Stephaine
Tootie: there upstairs talking, and Mrs. Garrett went to bed about an hour ago
Jo: Well that sounds (puts her hand over her mouth as she yawns) like a good idea I'm bushed
Blair: Jo I know you must feel keeping up with somebody in there youth makes you feel your age doesn't it (Blair quickly runs upstairs and Jo and Tootie follow her)
Blair: (Blair enters the room and see Natalie sitting on her bed, and Stephanie isnt' in the room) Hi what's going on
Natalie: nothing we were just going to sleep
Tootie: where's Stephanie
Natalie: she's in the bathroom brushing her teeth
Tootie: So what you talk about
Jo: (sitting down on her bed) Tootie that's private and none of our business
Blair: Jo's right (she sits down on Natalies bed and looks at Tootie) what they talked about it's none of our concern (pauses for a moment. Then she turns to natalie with a fake smile on her face) so what'd you talk aobut
Jo: (Natalie doesn't' say a word) Nat are you alright
Blair: Natalie what's wrong
Natalie: (she takes a deep breath) it's nothing
Tootie: Natalie come on were your friends if something brothering you talk about it
Natalie: I can't alright (getting angry at her friends for pushing her)
Jo: walks over towards Natalie bed and sits down on Tooties) this has something to do with Stephanie doesn't it
Natalie: she found a lump in her breast
Tootie: Oh my god natalie why didn't you tell us
Natalie: Because I promised Stephanie I won't
Blair: Natalie this isn't something you keep from family
Natalie: (she starts to get angry) what about when your mother went through it she never told you about her lump you had to find out from the doctor
Blair: I know (getting angry as she remembers when her mother had a lump) and do you have any idea how hard it was for me to face my mother with that
Natalie: (wipes a tear from her cheek) I don't know what to do. Stephanie's mother died of breast cancer 10 years ago her father can't go through that again
Jo: Natalie (getting angry and raising her voice) he's her father he has to know how would you feel if your daughter had cancer and didn't tell you about it until it was to late
Natalie: (natalie thinks for a moment and very quietly says) I'll talk to Stephanie in the morning and let her know if she doesn't tell her father I'm calling him

(the next morning Mrs. Garrett is sitting down at the table and everyone enters the room)
Mrs. Garrett: Morning girls oh Blair would you mind getting the orange juice out from the kitchen
Blair: Sure (Blair goes into the kitchen for the Orange Juice)
Stephaine: (Stephanie comes downstairs) Morning everyone mmm pancakes my favorite
Mrs. garrett: (smiling at her) Natalie told us all your favorites
Stephanie: Thanks Mrs. Garrett (Takes a seat next to her) you didn't have to go through any trouble
Mrs. Garrett: Oh it's no trouble at all I'm happy to do it
Jo: (Jo takes a slice of bacon and takes a bite) mmmm Mrs. G no body makes bacon the way you make bacon
Blair: (realizing that Natalie might need help with Stephanie Blair and Jo get the ball rolling) I heard from my mom the other day
Jo: (looks at Blair and takes another bit of bacon) no kidding how's she doing
Blair: (puts down her orange juice) Oh she's doing much better doctor Sid gave her a clean bill of health (looking right at Stephanie)
Stephanie: was your mother sick
Blair: she was a couple years ago the doctor found a lump in her breast
Stephanie: (she almost chokes on the words) a lump in her breast
Blair: luckily it was found eariler (takes a bit of her pancake and Stephanie is just staring her her) enough and removed before it spread
Natalie: (she deceided to get into the act) I even went down to Saint Patricks and lit a candle
Stepanie: Natalie were Jewish
Natalie: in times like these were all one religion
Stephanie: What's going on here (getting confused and a little angry)
Mrs. Garrett: That's what I'd like to know (also getting confused and angry)
Stephanie: (Jo, Blair, and Tootie all look down at there plates. Stephanie turns towards Natalie with tears in her eyes) Natalie how could you I trusted you (she stands up from her chair and starts to head upstairs)
Natalie: Stephanie wait (natalie stands up and walks towards her. Stephanie turns back to Natalie) I didn't want to hurt you, and I couldn't let you hurt yourself either
Stephanie: (Raising her voice and getting upset all over again) will you don't have to worry about that anymore I'm going home (Stephanie quickly runs upstairs)
(Natalie looks towards the stairs. Mrs. garrett stands up)
Mrs. Garrett: girls would you mind we need to talk (mrs. Garrett walks towards Natalie, Jo, Blair, and Tootie leave the room and take there plates with them) Natalie what's going on with Stephanie
Natalie: (she turns to Mrs. Garrett with tears in her eyes) she found a lump in her breast
Mrs. Garrett: Oh my god that poor girl, does her father know
Natalie: no
Mrs. garrett: (raising her voice) WHY NOT Natalie he has to be told
Natalie: Mrs. Garrett (walking away from Mrs. garrett) I'm sure this is something that will go away if we just give it time
Mrs. Garrett: (walking towards her) Natalie this won't go away unless she gets the proper treatments
Natalie: Mrs. Garrett Stephanie mom died when she was only 8 years old
Mrs. Garrett: and do you think he wants to lose his daughter too. (she walks up to her and puts her hands on her shoulders for support) Natalie he has to to be told. (Natalie nods her head a little bit)
(Natalie goes inside the bedroom and Stephanie is sitting down on the bed crying)
Natalie: how's the packing going
Stephanie: what do you care (quickly stands up and grabs her suitcase from under the bed)
Natalie: Stephanie I'm sorry if you feel that I betrayed you, and I'm sorry you feel the way you feel but I'm not sorry wanting to help you. (she pauses for a moment as tears come to her eyes) You're my cousin and I love you. (Stephanie turns towards her with tears in her eyes Natalie hugs her for support)Stephanine please call your dad
Stephanie: No I can't
Natalie: Stephanie please if you don't I will (she walks over to the phone and picks it up)
Stephanie: (Stephanie walks over to the phone and takes the receiver out of Natalie hand and hangs up the phone) Natalie wait, this isn't something I can tell him over the phone I have to do it face to face so we can sit down and discuss what were going to do (Stephanie breathes a sigh of releif Natalie gives her a little smile and they hug)
(across the sceen 2 month later shows)
Blair: (everyone is sitting in the living room. Blair enters with the mail) Hello everyone Mrs. Garrett, (hands Mrs. Garrett her mail) Tootie, (hands Tootie her mail) Jo,(hands Jo her mail) and Natalie this post cards for you
Natalie: (Natalie turns over the postcard and smiles) Stephanie's gonnea be ok
Mrs. garrett: Natalie that's wonderful
Tootie: What does the card say
Natalie: (Natalie stands up and everyone looks at her as she begins reading) Dear natalie I want to thank you for giving me the courage to tell my dad the thruth. I had the lump removed and I'm doing much better. This crises has brought me and my dad a lot closer together. We both know there's no reason to fear the worse because we'll always have each other. (she pauses for just a moment) Love Stephanie (Mrs. Garrett walks up to her and gives Natalie a hug everyone else is smiling and looking at each other)
