Default Farewell! It's been swell!

I'm permanently retiring from SitcomsOnline.

I know this might cause some of you to applaud, but please read this entire post before doing so.

I would imagine that some might get the impression that I am an argument starter. I really do not feel that this is true. There has been a lot of inappropriate comments made in the year and a third that I posted here. It's ranged from offensive comments to people's race, sexual orientiation, intelligence, political beliefs, etc. These comments are not only irrelevant to what we're talking about, but also hurtful, to myself and others. I'm not going to name names, it's been, in reality, a lot of people, not just on this forum, but other forums on SO. All I have done is stand up to these people, and in return have been met with personal attacks about my intelligence and have had a lot of speculative assumptions made about me.

What hurts me the most are the speculative assumptions. And I say that because I don't think anyone here really knows me. I never planned to mention this, because I didn't want to come off as someone seeking credit for good deeds, that is totally not what I do. I'm only mentioning this because I hope to clear the air about my reputation on my last post. I've alluded to doing something very nice for someone in the past when previous doubts about my kindness were in question. Well, I will now tell you what that was. I traded, very heavily, in someone's favor. I got some dvd's in exchange for sending them a (very nice) brand new, home audio system. Various people in this person's family were experiencing medical problems, and wanted to get something nice for a close relative for their graduation, but didn't not have the money to do so, due to the high cost of medical bills. The relative really loves music, and this was a huge gift to them. I very much enjoyed being able to help someone out like this. There have been other occasions where I have traded heavily in someone's favor, and I have also sent and offered to send people copies of programs for free, for the sole purpose of just trying to be a nice guy. I take a lot of personal satisfaction in helping people, and don't do it just to have them "owe me one", or anything like that.

I won't be checking private messages anymore, but will be checking e-mails, so I will leave my e-mail address. Please put Unsolved Mysteries in the RE: section, as I may not recognize your e-mail address, and so that I will know that it's not spam or something and delete it. I do have some UM segments to trade, including some not previously avaiable anywhere else to my knowledge, so we can also discuss tape trades. The address is sparky1822003@yahoo.com.

And to further prove that I am a nice guy, I will say this to the following, even to the people I have disagreed with:

best of luck to EVERYONE!

I for one will miss you contributions and your unique avatars. It was always a blast to see what wiseguy had as his avatar of the week. In truth there are few people who have an actual passion for this show as far as knowing the background on at least 75% of the cases. Wiseguy was one of them so this is quite a sad loss to the community.

Hm....

I joined up because I love UM. I don't take anything people say to me online personally since I don't know them. This is the internet. Not life. Not work.

Whatever man. Doesn't matter anymore. Stay cool and have fun out there ok! And I just might hit you up for some episodes!

Why are ya bailing out with such a dramatic exit, guy? Not to get personal here, not that i've even read many of your posts but you act like I might of got you kinda bent out of shape or something (see Kirkpatrick thread squabble).

I have an exceptionally small post count yet in our little arguement you felt the need to look up the history on comments ive made in various past threads. This ranged from thinking stuart heaton was guilty to accusing people who believed Zodiac and Ted K. were one in the same of not having their s*it straight (not in those exact terms). I tried to enthuse about those subjects and I got flamed for it. You tried to get across that this was to show how I have attacked various posters and have a bad attitude, when I really have not at all.

This may not have alot to do with why you dont want to post on the whole sitcomsonline scene or whatnot, but its in reguards to the first paragraph you put together. I've gone through the trouble because you tried to dig up alot of stuff on me, as a message board poster, for some reason. So in response to 'you know exactly what im talking about' no, im not sure what your deal is. Dont take it too personally though, this is just a thread.

Now this I don't get?! First off, bailing out of here because you were insulted on a different board is lame. As others have said, who cares?? It's just a 'net message board. And what I really don't understand is that if you don't want to contribute here anymore, simply don't, why make a public "announcement"? Doing this is only going to attract the attention you say you don't want. Anyways, as we in the land down under would say, seeya mate.

I don't think its necessary for anyone to argue with anything Wiseguy had to say. He was simply telling us he was leaving so he wouldn't pull an "Awsi" and just drop off the face of the earth. That being said I really hope you will reconsider leaving Wiseguy as you are a great poster on this board. I for one have no doubt that you are a nice guy and I have never thought anything different so don't worry about you coming across as anything else to the rest of us. Like I said I do hope you reconsider but will respect your decision.

Another thing to all posters and maybe I should bring this up to eliminate some of the arguing that occurs is to let everyone know that there is an "Ignore" feature on SO. Meaning if there's a particular poster you don't care for or don't want to read their posts, you just put them on your Ignore lists and their posts won't be visible to you when you log in. It would be better to use that than to continue arguing with the same people over and over. Just wanted to remind everyone of that feature.

Where there is passion it creates tension. I can see both sides of the issue. It is understood for a Poster to leave if they feel that the board has become too hostile for them. If he dosen't like the board then he left kind of like as a protest statement. The dude in Vegas made a protest and then left. I think a few also have made similar comments and then left. No need to mention names.

But i can also see the other side of the coin. Many posters just leave and even delete all there posts and say nothing. This is the case in many boards. There is no need for great drama in making an exodus. You would think people are giving a job resignation when they leave. LOL

I like to see different opinions and solid arguments to back it up but I do not like to see the name calling and personal attacks that develop in a few of these threads, so you cannot really blame the guy for having had enough if he is the brunt of some of it.

Sorry everybody, but I find this thread completely OBNOXIOUS. Don't be such a drama queen, Wiseguy. Are you trying to get us to beg you to stay? Because I'm not going to fall for it. I liked some of your posts, and some of them I didn't like...especially when you repeatedly attacked me for something you knew nothing about, but never apologized in public when you were proven wrong. But honestly, I don't think about you one way or the other the second I log off this message board. I'm sure you'll be logging back in for weeks to come just to read what people are saying about you. And I hope the Pope grants you sainthood for your generous trades.

Well I know that Wiseguy wasn't meaning any harm by starting this thread. He just wanted to state his reasons why he wouldn't be posting anymore. He is/was a regular poster so had he just stopped posting all together we would have wondered why. That being said I'm certainly not letting this thread turn into arguing and criticizing so I'm locking it.
