Default Which actors caused their own demise in TV or TV shows?

There are some actors that have had success in television but made mistakes to screw themselves over. Name some of the people and list how there ruined their careers one a show or in general.

Lisa Bonet: A Different World. At 19, she was given her own show by Mr. Cosby. She was late coming on to the set and then she got pregnant and was trasnported back to "the Cosby Show".

Then she and Bill Cosby decided to mutually part ways with "Cosby". She was a bit of a wildchild out side of the set,

Well I guess the one that comes to mind right now is Suzanne Somers from three's company.

Patrick Duffy left DALLAS after playing Bobby Ewing, the nice brother of J.R. Ewing. His character was killed off when his sister-in-law ran him over. The following season we saw DALLAS take a tumble. Larry Hagman (J.R. Ewing) convinced Patrick to return to DALLAS, thus, his return was that HE NEVER DIED. The entire season prior was simply a "bad dream" that Bobby Ewing's ex wife, soon to be wife again, Pamela Ewing had. So, us viewers call that the dream season and we were to forget the new characters, forget a character died (Jennilee Harrison), forget that Donna Krebbs had a miscarriage and was in the process of wanting to adopt a handicapped child with her husband Ray, and most importantly that someone planted a bomb in J.R. Ewing's briefcase...Ewing building then blew up, while J.R.'s wife, Sue Ellen happened to walk into the office. OY VEY!

Right Irene, but, otherwise Dallas was VERY realistic

( I hate to admit it but......Dallas was the one Soap Opera I ever watched voluntarily! )

Esther Rolle left Good Times and returned for the shows 6th season, by then the show had grown old and lost viewers.

David Caruso thought he was big s***t and left NYPD Blue for a movie career that bombed. LOL. This demonstrated that NYPD Blue didn't need him and continued to thrive after he left the show.

Well JR's antics and actions are things that I found amusing. He was like a cartoon to me. He kept me laughing with the way he did stuff. In the reunion movies, he was more comical.

Brett Butler is another that comes to mind. She flashed a boob to her TV son and then the real life parents removed him from the show because of Brett's ways and bad influence. People quit the show to get away from her and then she had a run in with the law (I think for drinking/DUI) and that last one is what caused ABC to pull the plug on her show in midseason. She put a lot of people out of work due to her actions.

I forgot to mention Kim Delaney she had a series called, Philly. She was a lawyer it went one season then was cancelled. Rumor had it that she had problems with drinking which ended the show. I liked it a lot and was disappointed when it was cancelled.

Was Kim Delaney on "Hello Larry"?

Some of these actors have to get out of the selfish mode and realize that their selfeshness can put many people out of work. I hate that. Deal with your personal problems so you can get paid and all others that work under you as well.

Let's don't forget MacKenzie Phillips when her drug and alcohol problems got her fired the first time. Got a second chance only to be fired again and the cast thought this time around she was not going to make it. You can see the downward spiral in her life in the latter half of the fourth season and definitely the beginning of the fifth season. Especially the fifth season where she looked as though she was at death's door. The second time around was just as worse where they could not even do a close up shot of her that was how bad it got.

Janet Hubert-Whitten was another one who blew it. Her battles with Will Smith, the producers and the cast of Fresh Prince of Bel Air caused her to be canned after she refused the deal of being in only 13 episodes the following season. The problems went full tilt when she got pregnant in the third season. She was excellent as Vivian Banks and a great actress to watch.

Susan St. James blew it on McMillin and Wife when she asked for more money and her contract was not renewed. They let her go. The show was not the same after that and her career took a downward spiral for a hot minute.
