Date set for R Kelly trial

A date has been set for R&B superstar R Kelly to appear in court over 17 charges of child pornography.

The trial is set to begin on September 17 with Kelly facing up to 15 years in prison if convicted of videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl.

The prosecution team say that the girl might have been as young as 13 but the star's defence lawyers are disputing her age and whether Kelly even appears on the tape at all.

The 40-year-old artist, real name Robert Kelly, has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges and has continued in the meantime to perform and release chart-topping hits.

The court date comes five years after the Grammy Award-winning singer was first accused.

A dispute over the date the video was made, held up the trial and further delays occurred when the judge presiding over the case, broke some bones after a fall and needed time to recover.

The videotape in question was widely circulated after it showed up on the internet.

i think this is the same case, considering it hasn't been brought to trial before though i might be wrong
