Default Shouldn't JJ Evans get married first instead of Thelma?

In the final season of Good Times, Thelma got married and JJ still remained single. Shouldn't JJ get married first because he was the oldest of the Evans kids? Wasn't JJ jealous of Thelma for beating him to it?

I'm assuming that JJ never got married because he still thought of himself as a ladies' man and because he didn't want to give up his single life. Maybe he was afraid of a permanent commitment? Who knows?

Well, JJ's dates were nothing but a bunch of tricks, so I could see why they didn't marry him. I guess they wanted to see Thelma blossom a little more sense she was a bit more mature, and the only girl sibling.

Just because a person is the oldest child, doesn't mean they should marry first.

As for J.J. he had just barely made a success, so why would he want to get married to any one of those girls he messed with. He will now have a better pick of the crop.

Well Thelma was engaged three times to JJ's one so she would seem more likely to get married. I don't think JJ was ready to get married since he was dating numerous chicks.

I'm the oldest of three kids, and my younger sister got married before me. I've never even been married. So what does birth order have to do with how soon you can get married?

I agree, plus Thelma was more mature than JJ. It made sense to me for her to get married first.

JJ was nowhere near ready to settle down, but Thelma was. Plus I think the addition of Keith provided more plots, which the show desperately needed at that point.

Probably not.JJ was not the most mature person in the world, even as an adult.Thelma was more mature, and smart, so for her to get married seemed right.

If JJ ever did get married, I like to think it would've been to TC. She was his friend above all else, they had many interests in common, and his family really liked her. She liked them all, too. If the show had gone on, I would've liked GT to further explore their relationship.
