Hazel is a good show, but it's a little different than other sitcoms. When watching the episodes, the shows have a too clean, near perfect look to them. It's like the producers wanted to portray Hazel and the Baxters as living in this perfect house and in a perfect world. That is unrealistic. And the people that appear in the episodes generally act overly proper and too polite. It's not a bad thing, but you're in for a shock if you're used to watching shows like Rosanne. Similar to Family Affair, the Hazel episodes have their share of tender moments, which at times come off a little awkward. And the character of Hazel can be a tad overbearing. Since she is the main character in the show, we get to see her in action quite a bit and it's best to watch no more than 2 or 3 episodes in one sitting. I like Don DeFore and Whitney Blake a lot as Mr. & Mrs. Baxter, the last season was different but still good with Ray Fulmer and Lynn Borden. Best viewed in small doses, Hazel is still a good family show. A little unrealistic compared with today's world, so the show appears dated and out of place with these modern times. I do hope that Sony will eventually issue the entire series on DVD, but I'm not holding my breath.

I haven't seen most of the sixties series since they aired originally. Over the last 3 months I have aquired 50 or 60 complete series, and I have been having the time of my life watching them. Your"re right about "Family Affair", and "Hazel". They are both funny, and emotional at times. I think they are wonderful series, and I miss that kind of TV. I know they're dated, but it's all about enjoyment, and I am really enjoying them.
