Bewitched: Larry was always firing and re-hiring Darrin. Darrin quit more than once but always went back.

Barney Miller: Chano, Wojo and Harris were laid off once during a budget crunch. They were back on duty by the end of the episode.

Bob Newhart Show: Howard was laid off from the airline and ended up joining Bob's out of work workshop. Then he was hired by a different airline. Carol quit a couple of times but always came back.

It seemed like every other episode Larry was firing Darrin until Samantha came to the resuce.

Carol quit the final season to search for something more meaningful. She ended up working for Eliot Carlin and that did not work out. She tried to come back but Bob did not take her back for the reason that she wanted to do something more meaningful with her life so it was the opportunity to.

when I saw the title of this thread; I thought you meant actors who were fired, quit, etc. Anyway:
  • Chandler quit his job on "Friends"
  • Alex quit and got a job as a waiter on "Taxi" once.
  • On "Cheers" once; Sam fired Rebbeca for burning the bar down; but then took her back.
  • And earlier; on another episode; she quit; then returned later.
  • Frasier, Roz, and Bulldog were all laid off once on "Frasier".
  • on "The King of Queens" once, Doug, and Deacon were out of work temporarily when IPS went on strike.
  • on "All in the Family" once, Archies union went on strike.

On 3's, Jack kept getting fired from Mr. Angelino. If that even counts because he kept getting rehired. Janet also quit many times but kept coming back until she got a job teaching aerobics. Yeah, on that show many people either kept quiting or getting fired.

It seems like on every show, one of the characters gets fired eventually. But, here are some of mine:

*Roseanne quit her job at the plastics factory at the end of the first season.
*Jesse and Joey quit the advertising agency in the season four of Full House.
*Jamie got fired from here first job at an advertising office in Mad About You.
*Whitley got fired from the art agency in A Different World.

On Perfect Strangers Larry and Balki quit working at Ritz Discount for "management trainee" positions at Fat Marsha's restaurant. (They went back to Ritz eventually.)

On The Wonder Years Norma was fired after one day on the job in the attendance office at RFK Junior High, I believe.

On Coach Hayden fired Dauber from his assistant coaching position with the Orlando Breakers (this was after the gang left Minnesota State) after he claimed he was abducted by aliens, only to rehire him by the end of the episode.

Laverne and Shirley (as well as Lenny and Squiggy) were fired from the Shotz brewery on Laverne and Shirley. They all moved to California! (Weren't Laverne and Shirley fired from Bardwell's Department Store during the second episode of the final season? )

I believe Carol Foster-Lambert was fired after one day as the sports commentator on the local television station on Step By Step.

On The Brady Bunch Peter was fired by the bike store, and Marcia was let go in favor of Jan at Haskell's, the ice cream parlor. Greg was fired after losing Mike's documents while working for him at the architectural firm, only to be rehired at the end of the episode.
