Default Burning Questions

Please answer what you can:

1) On the exterior view of the house at night, there is a light on in a room to the right of the front door. What room is that?

2) How come there are two fireplaces (living room and Mike's den), but no chimneys?

3) Why was Tiger's dog house shown two years after he disappeared?

4) How did the boys fit everything into that small closet?

5) How come we never saw Carol's parents again? Most grandparents want to see their grandkids, especially since Carol and the girls lived with them during their transition period.

6) Didn't Mike have any family besides Great-Grandpa Brady?

7) Which bathroom did Alice use?

8) If Mike designed and built the Brady house, why did he and the boys live in some other house before the marriage?

9) Why didn't the Bradys have a dishwasher?

10) Why does Mike exit the car on the passenger side when he comes home from work?

11) Why did Marcia have braces for only one episode?

I too have wondered abt that damn light!

I guess the doghouse was an illusion to remind us of the fact that they "had" a dog. Though, that was stupid.

I made a thread abt the whole Marcia braces episode. Though Carol stated she was to wear them for a "little while" and that may be true, having worn braces myself, I will tell you first of all, no one goes to the DENTIST for braces. You go to the Orthodontist.
Secondly, you must have a set of x-rays done at a radiologist (at least that is what happened to me) who then sent those x-rays back to the orthodontist. That took abt two weeks before I was seen by the orthodontist, who then told my dad what kind of braces and retainer I would need to have 'MADE' for my teeth.
Thirdly, on another visit to the orthodontist, the ortho made a mold of my mouth so they could make those retainers and get the proper brackets that would fit my teeth.
Fourth, on another visit, I was fitted with "spacers". They are rubber pieces that are fitted between your teeth so that the brackets of the braces are able to "slide" down on each of your teeth. This process takes two weeks approximately.
Fifth, after those two weeks go by, THEN I got fitted with the braces.

All in all, it was like three months from the time I was seen by the orthodontist to when I actually had the braces put on my teeth.

How Marcia did all that in one day, astounds me. That episode took place when? In the early 70's...I had my braces on in 1978. So, there wasn't much of a difference as far as how braces were done in that era. Nowadays, it is a whole different story.

No dishwasher, but they had Alice and the kids to do the dishes.

I guess Mike designed and built the Brady house for the fact that they were a large family. Mike could have designed and built his first house as well, but we will never know. I guess we should just assume.

The bigger question is why did he build ONE BATHROOM for six kids?

1) On the exterior view of the house at night, there is a light on in a room to the right of the front door. What room is that?
It was a fake window to give the impression that the real single story house they had picked had two levels.

2) How come there are two fireplaces (living room and Mike's den), but no chimneys?
The chimneys were the brick colums (the frisby hit one of them in the Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore episode)

8) If Mike designed and built the Brady house, why did he and the boys live in some other house before the marriage?
Although it was a different house i think we are meant to believe it was the same one. In 'A Clubhouse Is Not A Home' it is stated that the girls moved into Mikes house.

9) Why didn't the Bradys have a dishwasher?
Alice was the dishwasher. LOL

Mike's den??

3) Why was Tiger's dog house shown two years after he disappeared?

Maybe they (Sherwood Schwartz) thought they would get another dog for the show, but no stories needed one.

4) How did the boys fit everything into that small closet?

Did the boys have many clothes? It seems like you see a lot of the same clothes over and over again - just like real life.

5) How come we never saw Carol's parents again? Most grandparents want to see their grandkids, especially since Carol and the girls lived with them during their transition period.

Wasn't there an episode where the kids tried to match up one of Carol's parents with one of Mike's? But that bothers me on a lot of shows. It is especially bad when they never even refer to them again on the show.

7) Which bathroom did Alice use?

In "A Very Brady Christmas"(?), the mention a bathroom down the hall from the den and behind the stairs. I assume there was a bathroom back by Alice's bedroom and the utility room/laundry room/service porch.

9) Why didn't the Bradys have a dishwasher?

When did home dishwashers become common? And as mentioned, they had Alice.

10) Why does Mike exit the car on the passenger side when he comes home from work?

You see a lot of shows and movies where the driver exits the via the passenger door. I think that was a common practice - just like it was common for major league baseball players to leave their mitts on the field.

*********ANSWER: The house was there to cover up a hole in the stage.

5) How come we never saw Carol's parents again? Most grandparents want to see their grandkids, especially since Carol and the girls lived with them during their transition period.
*********ANSWER: Dont know, but remember that not every second of their "life" was taped.

7) Which bathroom did Alice use?
*********ANSWER: There was only one bathroom.

8) If Mike designed and built the Brady house, why did he and the boys live in some other house before the marriage?
*********ANSWER: Dont know, but on "To Move or Not to Move" Bobby says they lived in the new house for their whole life.

9) Why didn't the Bradys have a dishwasher?
*********ANSWER: Does everyone have a dishwasher? NO.

10) Why does Mike exit the car on the passenger side when he comes home from work?
*********ANSWER: Because he can?

Alicebutcher, this is a sitcom board, and we love to have discussions abt all kinds of things abt particular shows, episodes, etc. We know that shows are not consistent, we know that shows have flaws, errors, are not consistent, the "houses" seem incorrect in floor plan, etc. We know all that. But we come here as fans of shows to discuss these various things. It would be nice to keep the sarcasm out of these discussions. We know it's just a tv show, we know all that. Madame X is a dear member of this board and I don't think being sarcastic abt her thread is very nice.

BTW, there was three bathrooms. The kids' bathroom, the parents bathroom and the bathroom downstairs where the laundry room area is.

Alicebutcher-

In your profile you claim to be a Brady Bunch fan, yet your sarcastic attitude shows otherwise. It is interesting that your ID is Alicebutcher, because you are a butcher of something that is enjoyable to a lot of people.

Maybe you think your wit is charming, but do us a favor and find another site where your childish attitude would be appreciated.

See ya!

I have heard that at some point, a studio light fell down and burned the astroturf, so they put the dog house over the burned spot, rather than having it repaired or replaced.

Don't know if that's true, but that's the only explanation I've ever heard about the re-appearance of the dog house.

That's what I've heard too. You'll note that there are pieces of cloth hanging at the front that block the view into the doghouse!
