They call "The Suite Life", "Hannah Montana", & "Cory In The House"...
"CHILDREN'S SHOWS". That is not true. They are rated "G" not "Y". |

Come on, the show is on Disney Channel, and all of it's viewers are children, which would make it a children's show. Now, I watch it with my kids all the time, but you'd never see me watching it by myself one day.

Hey, it's "G" rated so it is NOT just a kids show. I'm 22, and watch The Disney Channel alone. If you think that is wrong, you need to look at the rest of TV and see what makes more common sense. Age means nothing.

And you did come to this Message Board on your own. Also, kids may not understand some things that are said on The Disney Channel. I don't mean that the things said are bad, but they may just not know what something is. Remember, adults write the scripts. They know what adults like as well and make sure it is in there.
My parents watch The Disney Channel as well. Nothing wrong with that. Where else can you go for Family TV? Also, people like Ashley Tisdale, Brenda Song, Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron, Jason Earls, and on and on are the future stars of TV and Movies. Watching them now will help people know them better in the future. I write scripts and hope to work with some of those actors some day. The Disney Channel is a Family TV Network. Not a kids Network. That would be PBS. |

I'm not trying to argue with you, and I"m not saying your completely wrong. I'm in my late thirties, with 3 cihldren of my own, and all of them no matter what their ages are watch Disney Channel, and they own almost every Disney Channel DVD. I'm saying that I watch with them all the time, or when I'm washing the dishes and their watching The Suite Life, I have no problem watching along with them. Disney Channel attracts a lot of different age groups, and there is nothing at all wrong with that, but the channel is definitely aimed more towards children,no doubt about it. The channel is not trying to get the 18-49 demographic. Their demographic is kids under the age of 15 or say, or tweens.

The Disney Channel is not like it was in the old days when it wanted all audiences. I remember I used to watch classic movies on the Disney Channel. They're all gone now. All that's left are kid's stuff.

PBS is DEFINITELY NOT A CHILDREN'S CHANNEL. Open your eyes and look. They offer children's programming in the morning. By afternoon it is documentaries, educational programming and music shows.

LetsGoPens is just someone who came here just to cause trouble. First off, he's blamond Wikipedia for something and then tells me that Disney Channel is not a kids channel. A kids channel can be a family channel . . . if kids watch it with their families, what do you call that? A family channel for kids? It makes no sense, you see?
And you're right about Disney not being what it used to. They still air the movies, but not the classic movies. All they rely on now is their original series, which are not anything like the original series they had in the nineties. |

And anyone who follows Wikipedia is that stuff can't be relied on. Posters on there just put in whatever info they want at times and more times than not, bad or incorrect information is left on there. How many times has Wikipedia reported someone dead who wasn't? That is why I don't follow that stupid site.

Well think about this. With the way TV and Movies are today it's hard to find good clean TV and Movies. And yes, PBS is all kids stuff from 5:00A.M. to 1:00P.M and again from 3:00P.M to 6:00P.M. as The Disney Channel has 95% "G" rated shows and that means ANYBODY of ANY AGE can watch them. Just like "Antiques Roadshow" on PBS at night. But most of the PBS Schedule has the "Y" ratings. The only rating that says "this is for kids". No other ratings says that.
All I'm trying to point out is that todays Disney Channel is NOT just a kids Network. Miley Cyrus herself has said you see people from ages 5 to 25 going to the tapings of her show as well as other Disney shows and parents who tell her they love what they are doing and enjoy watching as well. Just because you are over 20 does not mean you have to watch crap with language and sexual content. If you think being an adult is about watching sexual content and people swearing, you are just stupid. Common Sense tells you to not watch that crap. There are a lot of adult actors on The Disney Channel. And that helps make it a Family TV Network. You are not learning how count or do your ABCs. You are watching good clean TV and Movies. You know most kids would be in bed between 8:00P.M. and 10:00P.M., but yet The Disney Channel still airs the same shows after 10:00P.M. It does not make you a immature or a baby. Shows like "Home Improvement", "Family Ties", and many other are also "G" rated. They have the same thing. Parents and kids BOTH in the shows. If you enjoy making fun of people who are over 20 and like to watch "G" rated TV Shows & Movies, that makes you the immature ones. TV Shows & Movies that are rated "G" and "PG" do better than TV Shows rated "MA" or Movies rated "R". So if you want to make fun of people like that, think about that first. If you want to watch crap where people use the F word, the S word, as well as teen-sex and other crap, stop and think about how stupid that stuff is. I don't want to make trouble. I really don't. |

Trouble is not what is needed or wanted around here.
I get what you are saying and I get the message you are conveying. Yes, some great shows have a certain rating to help people decide what is best for their children etc. As for PBS, you will find that most of their programming is geared towards families. Rarely will they show something that is geared towards adults only. That doesn't mean it is dirty, x-rated or anything like that. They show documentaries at times that shouldn't be seen by children or teens. I have seen programming that shows gory things or things that may be disturbing, but that doesn't mean it is sexual in content or anything like you have stated. PBS is public television and depends on contributions and donations to keep them on the air. As for shows like Hannah Montana, I don't watch it, but I have a niece who watches it and when I have seen the show with her, I do find the show rather funny. It is not something I would watch alone. Another show I watch that is geared towards teens is DRAKE & JOSH. My five year old loves that show and so, when he watches it, I will watch it too. It is a good show. You had made a thread abt Family Guy and were bashing it. You also rambled on abt how other boards let you bash a show and say all this stuff, etc. But here on Sitcoms Online, one of the rules is that you can't make a thread simply to bash a show or say you hate it. That is why you got the flak that you did on that thread. If you are a newbie and start out on a board by offending people and breaking a rule, that won't get you too far around here. We had tried to reason with you and let you know that was wrong, but you became defensive and started telling us that a show like Family Guy is filled with sexual content, blah blah blah...you started preaching to us like we were in church or something. So be it you don't like a show, but here on this board, you can't make a thread and say that. If someone makes a thread and asks ANYONE LIKE FAMILY GUY? Then you can post and say "No, I don't. I don't like the content and the sexual content it shows." That would be acceptable. I like your post above and what you had to say, however, you are saying "you are just stupid" for the members here who love shows that have R-rated content in it. You know how that comes off? It is only going to make you look like you are making trouble. If you are part of this board you will have to understand that not everyone likes the same shows, but don't call members "stupid" for liking something that you find offensive. |

You are making a mess of things at this board. You are bashing us and this board, you are bashing other shows at these boards, all because you can't keep your mouth shut. There are times where you need to keep it shut, and other times where it's okay to say your opinion. But you haev done that in your first reply already. Enough is enough. |

"Enough is enough"?
This is America, right? I post what I want to post. It's censorship when you tell me to keep my mouth shut. If people can use language I can say what I want. I don't like it when people say the have the "right" to swear, but I can't say what I want to. I never said that to you, and I'm 22. You are older. Act like it. Here is a better way to look at TV and Movies. Sure, you can watch shows with teens having sex and all the sexual content that goes with it along with all the needless lenguage in TV and Movies as well, but WHY would you want to? It's sick and stupid. Also, like I keep saying, the things on The Disney Channel are "G" rated. You can't fight that. When the Show or Movie stars as well when they come back from break, it says TV-G" in the top right corner. You can say what ever you want about that but the fact is still that it is TV-G". Why is it that the things on PBS that are "TV-G" are for everybody but the things on The Disney Channel that are "TV-G" are not? You can't have it two different ways. The rating means the same thing no matter what Network it is. Also, I may be 22, but ever since I was 16 I have not felt like I was any older. I stay away from the TV Shows and Movies that are crap. Also, Ashley Tisdale from "The Suite Life" is my age, 22. You asked why would I want to watch "Hannah Montana"? Are you kidding? It IS funny, just like the other shows done by Diseny. Adults are writing the scripts. And the reason I frist started watching "Hannah Montana" was that Billy Ray Cyrus was in it. He is one of the best country music singers to ever live. I did not even know he was Miley's Dad till I saw my 3rd episode. I missed the credits the first 2 times. Anyway, the shows are for the Family. The Disney Channel has got Family TV Awards. |
