Default This must be a mistake, right?

Vanessa said once, that Cliff was four years older than Claire, right? Well, they went to Hillman together, didn't they? But Cliff was in the navy too at some point. Maybe that was while Claire was finishing High School? So that might work out after all. But what really makes me wonder is Cliff's story in that episode, when the men are betting on who's the most romantic. He said a he was a boy in his early teens taking a walk with his girlfriend. Early teens must be thirteen, fourteen and fifteen. So if the girlfriend was Claire, was she his girlfriend, when she was only nine, ten, eleven years old?

That whole thing always made me wonder, because we never knew exactly how old they were, or when they got married, or anything like that. I know in one episode Clair tunred 46, but I don't remember what season, and in one episode Cliff turned 50, but don't remember what season. If anyone can find out what season those episodes were in, I could do the math.

When you do the math also figure in the fact that they celebrated their 25th anniversary in one season, so that could help you out there as well.

Good catch Furienna.

Well since Clair knew everything she probably skipped grades in school.
She could've graduated high school at 14 and went to college with Cliff.

Okay, I figured it out. Cliff celebrated his 50th in season 3, while Clair celebrated her 46th in season 5, which is 2 seasons apart. That means, while Cliff was 50, Clair must have been 44, and that means they are 6 years apart, so they were never in high school together, but they could have been in Hillman together. While Cliff was in medical school, which takes 8 years, Clair could have been in law school at the same time.

Even with that said, storylines in the show are still not right, according to their ages.

I knew Claire's 46th birthday is in 5th season.

Well, it seems like we have a classic sitcom mistake here, that different episodes contradict each other.

There was also an episode, when Theo had his prom, when Vanessa and Rudy found out, that Claire hadn't gone to her prom, since Cliff hadn't been able to make it, and she didn't want to go without him. Well, it was like it wasn't Cliff's prom, so they couldn't have been in the same grade in High School. When they made a "prom" for their parents, Vanessa introduced Cliff as something, indicating what he was doing while Claire was a senior in High School. What was that? I don't remember right now.

I think it was said that Claire was at home having babies for a short time before she actually went into law school. I may be mistaken, but I have that thought in my head. Cliff was to get his medical education and when he finished, then Claire proceeded with her law education.

And she's still have to go to college before she went on to law school, so that would be a lot of time gone there. It was obviously just something the the writers just quickly talked about and then looked over, never paying much attention to it. Though, when things like this happens, it always bothers me that they never payed the attention to fix it.

I think that was it because on one of the episodes Denise said that when Clair went to law school they had to learn to eat Cliff's bad cooking. Cliff should have just fed them Hoagies every day.
