Talking Meeting Erin Moran ~ by Pat

7/272007
I had purchased my ticket to the Comic Con here in San Diego via their web site and had my baby sitter show up at 10 AM. I knew leaving at this time would cause a parking problem, but I had high hopes. Plus, Erin Moran was showing up at 11 and I was paying my baby sitter by the hour. After talking to the baby sitter about what is where, schedules, and what to expect, I left the house at 10:20. Down town was crazy. By the time I parked (about 3 miles from the Convention Center), walked to the center and got my pass, it was 11:30. I hurried inside and looked for the place where Erin was. I found her name on the board. It was scratched out and someone else’s name was written in. I was upset. I’ve been to the convention last year, so I’ve pretty much have seen it all and was here to see Erin Moran. Frustrated, I headed back to the pass section. I was going to ask for a pass exchange for another day. I was so mad, I had to stop and think. Should I just go check out the rest of the Comic Con, or get out of here? Was my babysitter available tomorrow or Sunday if I exchange my pass? I’ve already paid for parking. I decided to go over to the information desk to see if she had canceled for the hour, day, or cancelled completely. The lady at the desk told me that Erin just arrived and she would be at her table in a few minutes. WOW! How close did I come to messing things up even more?

Thumbs up Meeting Erin Moran (Part 3)

She arrived at her table and was setting up. There were lines from wall to wall and I was having a heck of a time finding her line. Then there was a girl standing right in front of her table. I stepped up. “Where is the line to see Erin Moran?” I asked. “You’re looking at it,” she smiled back at me. “You’re kidding,” I responded in disbelief. I waited patiently while Erin and her husband set up.

Default Meeting Erin Moran (Part 4)

The lady that saw Erin before me asked if I had brought my camera. Oh, I had almost forgot. I pulled it out. I waited while she visited with Erin. When she was done, she asked if I would take a picture of her with Erin. I was happy to do so. As I stepped up, I took a shot of Erin. “That’ll be ten dollars for the picture. Is that okay?” she asked.

Talking Meeting Erin Moran (Part 5)

“Oh, I’ve got ten dollars”, I replied. “Oh, I almost forgot. I have something for you.” I went into my book bag. I took out the Happy Days book that I wrote: “Happy Days: Legends Live On.” I told her I wrote a book and that was her copy to keep. I have written my e-mail address on the cover if she ever wanted to comment on it after reading it. She genuinely seemed impressed. I purchased a black and white shot of her and asked about the DVDs she had. It was the Happy Days 30th Reunion. She asked if I had seen it. I told her that I had and that I recorded it on video. I bought a copy of the DVD, too.
I asked her if she'd heard about the petition to get her on the sitcomsonline Happy Days message board. She said, “no” and seemed interested. I gave her a printout of the first page of the message board which shows that sticky posting. I told her how awesome she was. She asked if I wanted a picture of the two of us together. I jumped at the chance. She came around the table to put her arm around me. Now I have been to the Comic Con before and I don’t remember seeing anyone coming around the table for any shot. If you paid to have your picture with them, you stayed on your side of the table and they stayed on theirs. Her road manager took the shot. He said, “Okay,” but Erin told him to take another one in case the first one didn’t take. Erin Moran: what a wonderful, warm-hearted, and beautiful person. I could have spent all day talking with her.

Default Meeting Erin Moran (Part 6)

With my wife out of town for the last few months, I haven’t gotten out without the kids much. So, I went down stairs to look through the Comic Con and see if I could find something for my kids. The Comic Con was pretty much the same as last year. Everything downstairs was too expensive and there weren’t many people in costume (probably because it was Friday). There were some scantily dressed women, just like last year. I was “outta here”, but not before I went upstairs to get my kids a few toys and to go see Erin to get one more 8x10.

Talking Meeting Erin Moran (Part 7)

I went back and told her that I have decided to get another picture. I got the 8x10 you’ve seen in (Part 2) of this posting. She said that it was really nice that I came back. It was so great meeting her. It is a memory I will have for a life time. I wasn’t star struck as much as I thought I might be, but it was more like hanging out with a very good friend. She was 100% wonderful. When I got home, I showed the pictures to my 3 year old daughter and asked if she knew who it was. “Happy Days,” she replied. We don’t watch Happy Days all the time. My daughter is one smart cookie.

Default Erin Moran's Site

Erin's road manager gave me a flyer with pictures that I could order from. Erin told me that there were more on the web, but when I got the flyer home, it just had a PO Box to order from (and not the web site).

Her official web site is:
http://www.erinmoranofficialwebsite.com/

which also has a link to her "my space"
and a contact e-mail address

Thanks for reading this and sharing my experience.

Congrats, Pat! Thanks for sharing your story with us. I wrote to Erin several years ago and got a sweet handwritten letter and autographed picture, and still have both. She seems like a real sweetheart. Glad you had fun!!

Erin look so good here than she did on Scott Baio 45 and Single...

She seems like a sweatheart with a great heart...she seems like a very intelligent woman, too, especially when she had that conversation with Scott....She knows her sh**, that's for sure. I noticed that when that jerk, Jonny V, came out...I love how she said, "Why do you look so familar?" My guess is that she knew Scott's friend way before and possibly knew his character beforehand. Man, Erin...sharp as a siren. She is no dummy, that's for sure.
