Default Grams and Jen

Since I've just watched the first season, I was curious about Grams and Jen's relationship and how that develops over the course of the series.

I'm assuming they grow much closer and both learn to tolerate each others beliefs more as the series progresses, but I was wondering what other people's take on it was.

I like Grams. I might not want to live with her, but I like the character. Even if she has some shortcomings (toward Joey's sister and boyfriend for example), she's an interesting character, made even moreso by the solid performance of the actor that plays her.

Also, who is the actor that plays her and what is her background? I'm just curious, because I think she's great in that role.

I don't want to ruin anything for you, but yeah, they do become much closer. And they do learn to tolerate each others` beliefs....There's a 3rd person that comes in the mix, and in some ways, brings them closer together, as friends. Grams also lightens up a bit. She's actually gets funny, and even spunky later on! (And if you thought their scene was good in the church, just wait until what happens between them in the 2nd season!).

Grams is played by Mary Beth Peil. She`s a wonderful actress. Her role increases as the show goes on. She stays until the end, and develops quite well.

Thank you! You're great at dishing the teasers! Between Grams and Jen and the Joey/Dawson/Pacey triangle I am hooked.

I did catch one ep, a long time ago (it's the only one I'd ever seen before I rented season one) and there was this guy Eddie, that Joey was seeing or, I think he might've been a former flame. They were at the Icehouse and that's all I remember, besides the fact that he cute. So I know that's coming too.

I hate getting into a soap and then having to wait!

I keep meaning to ask you if Buffy is on TV anywhere. One of my professors references this show quite a bit and really wants me to watch it. I have friends with the DVD's if it's not on TV.

Eddie comes in the last season. He's played by Oliver Hudson (Kate Hudson`s brother).

Buffy. Aaah Buffy. That`s another MUST SEE. There's a college course for the show, that's how outstanding it is...You should borrow your friends DVD`s. That`s the best way to watch it. FX has the reruns of the show, but the are edited to all hell. And I think the contract is expiring soon. It`s been there for 6 years already.

Grams bugged me at first but I grew to respect her character. Jenn, on the other hand, just grew more pathetic, more annoying, and more aloof. By the last season, she really bugged me and seemed like such an airhead (like all her radio stuff).

It was funny that I liked almost all of the characters more as time went on (including Grams), but Jenn just got worse.
