I think I may have seen a thread about this previously, but I'm not sure so I decided to start my own. What ghost stories do you guys think are true and which ones do you think are hoaxes? I'll start us off.
I definitley think the ghost story "Frightened Family" about the house that a young child died in was real. I found it very creepy, like when the little boy was walking down the stairs and a man in a trenchcoat (he kinda looked like Robert Stack hehe) appeared in front of him and faded away after a few seconds. As far as hoaxes go, I'm convinced that the ghosts of that house in England that two sisters owned and sold to a couple who claimed it was haunted (it was called "Ghosts Go To Court") was just a load of crap. I didnt buy the "haunting" one bit. Your opinions on true ghost stories and hoaxes? |

Well, I think we can conclude that Heidi Wyrick was a hoax. Also, I'm sure all of the posters on here would agree that the Alan Mann ghost was fake, although it did provide for some great television viewing.

No way how could any female ghost resist that mecca of manhood?

Regarding the two sisters case, it was thrown out of court here, well actually more laughed out.

True - John Hardin. This one always intrigues me. I wonder what bacame of this story. Stack mentions at the end that the camera crew ran into unexplained technical difficulties... and a window SLAMMED SHUT!! False - Fish Springs Haunted House. Now not that I'd stay there for a second but the main ghost story here is witnessed by three very young children, like (at the time) 10, 6 and 3 I think. Everyone at that age sees ghosts.. I also think the parents here are irresponcible and should be ashamed of themselves. Not only do they produce a dodgy picture of their ghost but they let their very young children who are supposedly tramatized by all this, to be interviewed on international TV?? Sif I'm gonna believe what a 3 year old little boy says ...makes for a good television tho lol

Well, I have not actually seen the show, but I heard from someone on this forum that Heidi Wyrick was on the program Penn & Teller's BullSh**!, and Penn was able to prove it was a hoax. I guess I should have waited until I saw the segment to make that statement, so that I could judge for myself.

I definitley think Heidi Wyrick was a hoax. I mean come on, she was a six year old kid at the time, little kids have imaginary friends and have weird imaginations. Besides, on UM they portray the first ghost, with the bandaged hand, as a good ghost, and later she said he was a bad ghost. Whats up with that?

I'm not sure about that one, I think it could have been real, after all the sisters came and visited and heard stuff too. But it could have been just other noises that they thought were ghosts and probably werent.

I never really got the sense that the Heidi Wyrick case was a hoax. If she was on Penn & Teller's show, I would love to know more about the episode and watch it.

Oh c'mon now, not all of them are false! Ghost ones were always my favorite but a few that I've doubted are:
*the Wyricks (who sounded like gramatically incorrect rednecks) *Ghosts go to Court *Ghost Boy *Ghost Lights *Profiling the Paranormal *Frightened Family *Lake Wales (The Mann's) Of course, this is only my opinion....... |

2 segments I remember as i a kid I'd like a little memory jogging on:
1> A man she's a woman's face in a turned off TV, he unplugs the TV and is the woman's face stays on screen 2> A ghostly head appeared on a families clothes dresser. I only remember that case because my neighbors used to claim their house had weird noises and what not and they told me about it while watching this episode. |
