Default The episode-"The Checkup"-Pointless??? What message was the episode sending?

Viewers see in this episode how angry james was and that he had headaches and then smashed a chair and scared the hell out of his family but when he goes to the doctor and the doctor says-"No your dad does not have hypertension" Then what was the point of the episode then? I thought that it would give off the message that-"Always get a yearly checkup because it can be something wrong with you and u may be unaware of it" So since there was nothing wrong with james after going to the doctor why the hell did the producers have the james character act so crazy and slammmed chairs against the wall?-lol I just don;t understand why this episode was made if it was not revealed that james behavior was connected to hypertension. So does this episode put the P in Pointless??-lol

Good point. I always felt they should have had him discover that he DID have high blood pressure, and then show him dealing with it (perhaps in later episodes). The ending was kind of anti-climactic, kind of a let down.

Yeah, I agree with you Solomon. What was the point? And why was he so angry? I will tell you why...he was tired of the family NAGGING HIS A$$!!!! James said it to the whole family.

The writers were stupid here (again). They are telling the audience, "If someone gets angry, it doesn't always mean they have high blood pressure. They are just p*ssed."

Yeah, good message to send the viewers writers! Just like when they said it is ok for your doctor to reveal PRIVATE/PERSONAL info to a building maintenance guy.

I know I would have told my family to wait outside when the doctor gave me my results. No way would I have had my family standing right there listening to the doctor speak about my medical situation-lol

Like I mentioned before, his cholesterol was high, so he had something. And I am sure his blood pressure was sky high like Jeff mentioned. That doctor at the end of the epiosode also said that if he relax, the headaches would disappear. James couldn't relax, he was living in tension, so yeah, that was a pointless episode. He had all the symptoms of hypertension.

That was annoying. "Just relax..." Oh yeah, tell that to every poor man struggling to provide for his family. I will say, throwing chairs, screaming and yelling is what James should have curbed, but "relaxing" is something that I can't imagine James trying to do.

It might have been a funny episode watching James TRYING to relax and not blow his cool, especially with J.J. around. There would have been some humorous moments (had there been a part 2)-lol
