Default Anybody here buy Maltshop Memories?

I did and I completely enjoy it. It's the first time I ever bought something from an infomercial. I love oldies music, but there are no oldies stations anymore where I live. The set has 150 songs, but I paid extra and got an additional hundred or so songs. It's music from the late 1950s to the early 1960s.

The infomercial has Bobby Rydell and a woman inside an old diner, lol.

I don't have that exact set, but I have most of the songs on other CDs in my collection. I think it's great that the younger generations are into the oldies music. In fact, a lot of music in my collection is music that my parents grew up with (Everly Brothers, Ritchie Valens, Roy Orbison, Lesley Gore, Petula Clark, Motown, etc.).

Yeah, I'm 25 and into the old TV shows and oldies music. I impress a lot of people (who are in their 40s and 50s) at work with my knowledge of the classics (whether it be TV shows, movies or music, though mostly TV). People are always asking me if I've seen a certain show and most of the time I can say yes.

As for the oldies music, I grew up on it and that's my favorite kind of music. From the late 50s thru the 70s. I also grew up on the old shows from Nick at Nite. Kids these days can't say that. Because of the current status of N@N, they'll say they grew up on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and that's all. lol

I'm 27 and also have an extensive knowledge of movies, music and TV shows from way back. I get asked, "You're SURE you weren't born in (name a year or decade)?" and "You were born in the wrong decade" all the time. But hey, I'd much rather watch/listen to the stuff of the past than that crap that's out today - any day!!

I often feel like I was born in the wrong decade. But then I think, at least in this decade, I can own CDs and DVDs of all the old music, TV shows and movies, that I couldn't if I was living in the sixties or seventies. I just wish I knew more people my age that liked the same things I do. This may be the main reason that my best friends are currently in their late 40s, early 50s, lol.

Same here! Thankfully, I do have a friend near my age who is into the same stuff. We both love to watch Bewitched, Mary Tyler Moore, Twilight Zone, etc.

I get most of my music by downloading or from purchasing from iTunes. The last CD I bought, I purchased from this small oldies music store here in my city. They specialize in the hard to find stuff and actually carry albums! I bought a CD just for two songs, but it was worth it. I added those two songs to my oldies and old school collection. Being a child of the late 60's - early 70's and having two older siblings, you get hooked on the music.

About 3 years ago I downloaded most of my oldies songs. I was shocked that some of the hard-to-find or rare songs were available to download.

What really ticks me off are all those CDs of oldies music with "New Stereo Recordings". Because I like to hear them just as they were back in the sixties, not a new version of that song by the same artist. Most oldies CDs I find in the store are the new recordings. So that's why I jumped at the chance to get Maltshop Memories, because it's all original recordings.

yeah thats the main thing you have to look out for when buying 50s music CDs: " These are new studio recordings by the original artists, to ensure the best stereo sound" ( These are usually recordings made in the 1970's during the 50s revival era as most of the 50s artists are dead or retired now ) When i see that, I put the CD back, pronto...the bad thing is when that warning isnt there, but, its still later recordings , or even worse, alternate takes and live versions! ( I want to hear the music I remember , not a poor imitation!)

I've always I wished that I was born 25 years earlier so that I could have experienced the 1960's and more of the 1970's. The 80's were cool (though overrated), the 90's were only average and this current decade is just a disappointment.

TZ was so ahead of its time it's not even funny. The fact that many actors from Bewitched guested on TZ doesn't hurt, either.
