We already know about The Best of Match Game on DVD, which even includes an episode of the original 1960's show with Gene Rayburn hosting as well as commentary from Brett Somers. Now, what about this, releasing eight discs of The Best of The Price is Right, Vol. 1. It should feature both the Bob Barker and Dennis James programs and maybe some commentary from former hostess, Janice Pennington. Perhaps a surviving TPIR telecast with Bill Cullen hosting as well as Barker's programs with appearances by Cullen, Bob Eubanks, Adam Sandler, the late Ray Combs and the late Bert Convy as well as tributes to both Johnny Olson and Rod Roddy. That's something Fremantle Home Entertainment should consider, if they haven't already done it.

Last I heard BCI is planning on a best of TPIR DVD set. I guess it'll come after Family Feud. I don't know for sure though.

The set is supposed to contain 20 of the most memorable episodes in 35 years. I hope they include the Sept 4/72 premiere. It's never been rebroadcast because of a fur coat as an item up for bids. But I wish an exception would be made in that case.

TSoD's latest report: http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7995
Basically everything said above. This was originally targeted for June 2007, but I guess they figured they'd release TPIR along with MATCH GAME's second installment (http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=8006) and THE BEST OF FAMILY FEUD and THE BEST OF FAMILY FEUD ALL-STAR SPECIAL releases. |
