Talking Maybe I should, maybe I shouldn't.. please help

I'm starting a new fan fic called "Still Learning The Facts of Life", but before I do, I could use some suggestions on some parts. One of my FOL friends @ school suggested I had Jo divorce Rick, but I don't know about *that* idea. I've already got the kids names and everything, I just need some kind of subplot that'll make one of the girls realize "there's still lessons to be learned" after going through something kinda hard. What, though? Any ideas? I'm not big on any abusive marriages because I think there's plenty of those reunion ideas now, but I need some kind of problem one of them has to face!! Thanx!!

Well, I personally think, on the divorce issues, you should have Jo and Rick divorced before the story and not even have him be involved.

Just brainstorming, here... <grin>

When you said "I just need some kind of subplot that'll make one of the girls realize 'there's still lessons to be learned,'" did you mean Jo, Blair, Nat or Tootie?

If you did, then maybe the divorce angle is the one to develop. For me, Jo (the practical) and Rick (the goofy and creative) always seemed like an odd match. What if something (injury, business, bad luck, lost nerve) prevented Rick from doing what he loved most (his music) and he got disillusioned to the point where he was impossible to live with. Nevermind that Jo loves him and he loves her -- he's so wrapped up in what he can't do that he blows his chance with what he *has!*

Since Jo's parents own divorce was so tough on her, it might be interesting for her to face a point where she realizes that even if you love someone and want it to work and try everything -- sometimes it isn't enough.

Thanx! And actually, it doesn't have to be Jo, because if anyone has ANY ideas for any other character, tell me, because as long as I've got a subplot, the sooner I can post it!
