TV witch Erin Murphy has revealed she's battling ovarian cancer but hopes to be given the all-clear after catching the disease early. The retired actress, who played Samantha Stephens' witch-in-training daughter Tabitha on beloved sitcom Bewitched, admits TV saved her life - a documentary she saw about ovarian cancer prompted her to get a check-up. Now 43, the former star underwent an operation on July 3 and is awaiting biopsy results to see if chemotherapy treatment will be necessary. Optimistic Murphy says, "Surgery went great. My scar is low enough that I can still wear a bikini and host fitness shows. Luckily, I was in really good shape before the surgery, so recovery should be a breeze. I'm taking it easy now but should be recovered in four to six weeks." |

I read that and was beyond shocked. Alice Pearce (Gladys Kravitz #1) was about the same age when she was diagnosed with the same disease. With today's treatments and early detection, I hope Erin will make a complete and speedy recovery. My prayers are with her and her family.

Man the cast of Bewitched just seems to be cursed. My best wishes to Erin.

Wow, ovarian cancer is one of the deadliest cancers for women. The problem is that there isn't a reliable screening test for it. The pap test is for cervical cancer. Usually, when a woman starts exhibiting symptoms, it's advanced. Erin was lucky that it was caught early. Prayers to her for a complete and successful recovery.

I hope she has a speedy recovery, she's too young to die.

At least they caught her cancer early. God willing, she'll recover.

Hi All,
Here is a recent note from Erin Murphy: Here I am, 2 weeks post-op & all I can say is that I'm overwhelmed & humbled by the outpouring of love & support that I've received. Surgery went great. I was in great hands: my surgeon was my long term doctor, who delivered my 3 youngest children. My scar is really low, so I can still wear a bikini (& I did yesterday!). The hardest part of the recovery is actually taking the time to heal. Luckily I have the most wonderful family, who've taken amazing care of me. I'm the proudest mom in the world to see what loving, compassionate children I've raised. When my doctor told me it would take six weeks to be back to 100%, I wasn't quite sure what that meant. I knew I wouldn't be able to do an hour on the stairmaster, but I didn't know that I wouldn't be able to walk up a flight of stairs (or even 2 stairs!). I decided it wouldn't be smart to "post" on Percocet, but I'm totally off all medication now & I'm feeling really good. I'm allowed to start driving tomorrow. Before my surgery, I made a commitment to attend the Hollywood Collectors Show in Burbank this Friday & Saturday & I WILL be there. If you're in town stop by to say "Hi". I don't know if I'll ever be able to respond to all the e-mails, cards & messages that I received (I'm going to try), but please know that your thought & prayers are truly appreciated. Thx, Bonnie Vent Genesis Creations Entertainment |

Its great to hear that she's doing so well. You don't think of someone that young getting ovarian cancer but it does happen, probably more than we realize.

Erin Murphy was present at Elizabeth Montgomery's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony last week. She looks great, and I hope she has beaten this thing.
