Default What happened to Clifford Sherwood and George Gumbley?

I thought this would an interesting poll question. For those who need your memory refreshed Clifford Sherwood disappeared while leaving for school one morning in Canada on October 21, 1954. He was last seen walking with his friend George Gumbley and neither one of them have never been seen again. UM seems to play up the angle that Clifford's father Tex abducted him but the fact remains that George Gumbley is missing as well.

Wasn't a little boy's corpse found? I guess I always assumed that it was George Gumbley. But did they ever rule out it being Clifford's? Has the father ever been seen again? I always assumed he had been kidnapped (because a photo did surface that appeared to show an older Clifford). But, concerning the two, perhaps Clifford's dad kidnapped them both, or they were abducted/murdered and have yet to be found by someone other than his father. I obviously don't have a concret opionion on the case but it's one that's always bothered me! Sorry to be so wishy washy!

Clifford's dad had no motive to kidnap George Gumbley. If you read the newspaper article in the segment via freeze frame you'll note that George Gumbley never came home either - I believe both these boys were victims of a random act of violence of some sort that did not involve Tex Sherwood at all.

Yes there was a torso of a child found several months after they went missing but Clifford's mother refused to view it and as far as I know they never found out who it belonged to. Its possible it was Clifford or George but we'll probably never know. Yes the father was seen after that and one of his daughter's stated that he would get very upset when there was any mention of his son to the point of throwing things. You could say it was because he had taken Clifford and didn't want to answer any questions or he was so distraught that his son was missing. I believe around the same time Clifford went missing the girls that Tex once had custody of were in foster care so I'm not sure how much Tex surfaced around then. As far as the picture found of Clifford, the mother only thought it looked to be a few months old than she had remembered Clifford looking so its not really verified that is was taken after he went missing. I did come across a post on a website from 2002 from Clifford's sister so as of then he was still missing.
