I have seen Xanadu millions of times and own the soundtrack. Oddly enough, I have never seen Two of a Kind, even though I own that soundtrack as well!!
Xanadu is one of the cheesiest movies ever made, and to this day I can't figure out the ending. Still, it has a certain charm, the music is great and I LOVE ONJ's peasant style dresses. I hear TOAK is no Grease, but what is? ONJ and John Travolta have a great duet called "Take A Chance", which would have rivaled any song in Grease. ONJ also took two other songs from the soundtrack, "Twist of Fate" and "Livin' In Desperate Times" high up the charts. Journey's "Ask the Lonely" is here, too!! TOAK is now available through my local library, finally! So I requested it and will share my thoughts after I see it. So let's hear everyone else's take. Take it away, Irene!!

I have never seen Xanadu. I have seen Two Of A Kind and it was really, really bad. There was a good song by Chicago in TOAK called "Prima Donna" though. A couple of good Journey songs too.

I really like "Prima Donna". David Foster, who was Chicago's primary producer at the time, produced almost the entire TOAK soundtrack. Boz Scaggs' "The Perfect One" is a very pretty ballad. I like really bad, cheesy flicks, so this should really be something, Mike!!
How is it that you've never seen Xanadu, by the way??

So I tend not to like movies that she is in. My mom LOVES Olivia Newton-John."Prima Donna" is also included on Chicago's 1984 album Chicago 17, which was produced by David Foster. |

I have seen Xanadu (kill me now!!!) Two of a Kind...Won't see that movie TWICE...
uke:I love John Travolta, but he made some stinkers, that's for sure. But I forgive him, a real man can make a few mistakes and I forgive him. ![]() Did you know Xanadu opened on Broadway? It has a huge cult following.

I finally saw Two of a Kind today. I now understand why it's been panned so much over the years!! AWFUL flick...horrible!!
It did have a good soundtrack, and it's better than Moment by Moment. Those are the only two good things I have to say about the experience.

Yeah, wasn't it horrible? The producers of that movie thought, "Hey, Travolta and Newton-John again, will bring in $$$"... BOY WERE THEY WRONG!!!!!! ![]() I remember when that movie was finishing up and all the hype in the magazines abt this movie and how great it was going to be to see these two all over again, blah blah blah. Yeah, they got me all hyped up, I will admit it. But the chemistry never existed. The movie is horrible. Sure, they were great in Grease, but Grease was a musical that appealled to all ages and it was FUN TO WATCH. |

Another creepy thing - the romantic boat ride in NYC (with "Twist of Fate" playing in the background) has several shots of the WTC.

I find it so hard to not think abt that horrible day whenever I see a show or movie that has the WTC in the scene or in the background. I don't think it is possible to ever forget that day especially when you seen that occur LIVE. So sad. Twist of Fate is abt the only good thing abt Two of A Kind. Did you ever see the music video for that song? |

They were also CLOSE-UP shots - not skyline shots like the opening credits of Barney Miller. That just made it creepier.
![]() I have never seen the "Twist of Fate" music video - to date, this was the last ONJ song to go Top 5. The video is probaly on youtube; I'll have to search for it. Thanks, Irene!

You are welcome.
On HBO last month they were showing the old King Kong remake, the one with Jeff Bridges. That movie has King Kong ON THE WTC!!!! Talk abt close-ups...THAT IS MAJOR CLOSE-UP TIME OF THE WTC... I couldn't even pay attention to the scenes because I was just staring at the WTC the whole time.
