You post lyrics from a song from the 1950's and someone guesses the song and singer(s) then if they want, they post lyrics for someone else to guess.
So first one: "I was born one mornin' when the sun did'nt shine, picked up a shovel and I walked to the mine..." |

Very good annball1957, and remember whoever answers it correctly, if you can think of one post some lyrics of your own for someone to guess the song.
Next one: Charlie's got a gold watch, don't seem like a whole lot, after thirty years of drivin' up and down the interstate................ |

okay the song is "18 Wheels And A Dozen Roses" by Kathy Mattea
its a great song so if you guys can give it a listen someday For the next song, it's a Country song from the '50's Here it is: In 1814 we took a little trip, along with Colonel Jackson down the mightly Mississip, we took a little bacon and we took a little beans.................. note: I changed the title to 1950's Country Music lyric game |

Actually I meant 50s Rock n Roll
although what i was really saying was, open it to all kinds of popular music..... anyway, the song is "the Battle of New Orleans" 1959, by Johnny Horton

That is correct Mikado, it is indeed "The Battle Of New Orleans" by Johnny Horton, from 1959. And since a lot of Country songs from the 1950's were sorta rock n' rollish anyways and vice versa I have changed the title again to "1950's music lyric game".
So here is the next song for someone to guess: The wise old owl, the big black crow, flapping them wings sayin' go bird go............ |
