It is always fun finding rare Elizabeth Montgomery Appearances.
I recently found a treasure drove of them such as Liz's 1974 appearance presenting at the Tony Awards in Color & many Bewitched Cast Commercials in character done for sponsors of the show & ABC Promos for Bewitched. Now i am on the hunt for Emmy Awards appearances by Elizabeth Montgomery both presenting & accepting Emmy Awards for fellow cast members. Larry Tate

I am Looking for Elizabeth Montgomery appearances at the EMMY Awards, specifically Emmy Awards With Elizabeth Montgomery Presenting or accepting in 1961,1966 to 1971,1974, & 1975,
in particular in 1966,1967,1968,1969, & 1971 where i know she was presenting & or accepting Emmy's. I have come across a few collectors that had every Tony Award show on 16mm print from the early 1960's to the present, there must be someone who has done Likewise for the Emmy Awards for that same time period. If anyone does have them or know of whom might then let me know at: LarrytateT@aol.com Larry Tate

Interesting - on YouTube there is a clip from "The Merve Griffin Show" in which Lucille Ball is on it. On the clip of his show (it's from about 1974 I think), they show a clip of Lucy accepting the award. Unfortunately they don't shall the other nominees in the clip of which Liz was one but there is something interesting I thought. There is a man (I can't quite tell who he is) on stage who calls out her name and he is accompanied by Barbara Eden. I thought it would have been odd had she won and been standing up there with Eden!
Also, several years ago on the 50th anniversary of The Charlie Brown Christmas Special, after airing the special there was a special all about the making of it. They showed when Charles Schultz won the Emmy for it (1966 I believe) and in the audience at a table you clearly saw Liz and William Asher applauding as they called out his name! You could see her saying, "Yeah!" as she was applauding. I have it somewhere but it is a really quick shot. Just FYI

Yes i know what you mean, finding these rare clips like from the Emmy's is
like trying to find the magna carter. Actually Liz did appear on the Merv Griffin show the week before Christmas in 1970 to promote the season 7 Bewitched Christmas episode #213 Sisters at Heart which was debuting that week. Yes i know about the Charlie Brown Christmas special, this Christmas i will record that as that sounds like a cute tidbit. I do have a nice 1967 nominee shot of Liz as she is introduced on camera as a nominee that year for best actress, it was on the Dick Van Dyke DVD set. Larry Tate

Recently i made a Huge find when i found the 1958 Liz guest starring appearance in the Dupont Show of the Month episode "Harvey".
Liz starred in this 90 min. masterpiece with Art Carney (who i thought was even better in the lead then Jimmy Stewart was in the Movie version), Marion Lorne soon to be Aunt Clara on Bewitched and many others. I managed to find an original studio 16mm print of it with superb quality & even the original commercials that i transfered to DVD, it looks amazing. Larry Tate

I watched the 1950 Robert Montgomery Movie
"Eye Witness" last night as i recently received a 10 quality 35 mm studio print transfer of it on DVD. There is a scene about 8 minutes into it where Robert Montgomery is paying the cab driver & two guys on Bikes ride by him, then you see a boy & a teenage Girl(Liz was 17 at the time) getting on a two seater and you see the girl from the back & the side as she gets on her bike, this is the long rumored cameo of Liz that was her first appearance on film of any kind other then home movies. It does look like her & the hairstyle fits, she tried out for the role of the Lolita daughter of the High Sheriff in the English village & was passed over for the role by her father as he felt he needed a more experienced actress. He then gave Liz a cameo to make up for her not getting the part, or so Legend hath it. Larry Tate

One of the neat things about Bewitched was that unlike so many shows today that cast a lot of green unknowns barely 20 years old, Bewitched had a very experienced, Seasoned Highly trained & proven cast.
These other shows often had a cast who had done nothing before their show became a hit & did nothing after it or get Gilliganized & typecast. So all you have to collect of their appearances are from the one show itself. With Bewitched the cast members were so experienced that aside from Bewitched, collectors who are fans of each cast members have a Treasure drove of shows they were in to search for & collect. Liz was in about 260 TV shows prior to Bewitched, Alice Ghostly & Marion Lorne were stars of their own shows way back in the 1950's & Kasey was a major character in Payton Place for years so i bet for all 3 the count was over 200 appearances as well. Dick York was in a lot of shows before Bewitched like One Step Beyond & the Twilight Zone, in fact i recall the Sci-Fi network when they carried the Twilight Zone doing a promo spot with Liz, Dick York,David White & Agnes Moorehead featureing footage from their respective appearances on the Twilight Zone. Dick York must have been in over 200 TV shows prior to Bewitched, in fact i bet he was in more shows prior to Bewitched then he was in actual Bewitched episodes. I recall him in Rawhide & as well a One Step Beyond i have of him that reminded me greatly of episode #72 from Bewitched when he goes back in time to see how things would have been different if he had zigged instead of zagging at one point in his life. The other OSB episode i have of him was very much like that Twilight Zone episode where he can read minds. You never know where they are going to show up, we even had the sight of Liz & David White necking in the Untouchables together. Sometimes you come across the most interesting surprises when you get a show without even knowing they were in them as i found with Kasey Rogers a few times. Larry Tate

I now have this 1975 episode the Hollywood Squares
where Liz promotes her upcoming TV Movie The Legend of Lizzie Borden. Liz was actually quite active in this episode of the Hollywood Squares as was Robert Foxworth with Elizabeth Montgomery,Robert Foxworth, Carol Channing, Joan Rivers etc. from 1975. It is a different one from the 8 that were on the Game-show network in the recent past so i now have 9 of them. Larry Tate

Well i just finished watching the
ABC Tournament of Roses Parade Promo with Liz & Vin Scully in it from an old College Football Game the Gator Bowl from 1966, got it from an original 16 mm print transfered over to DVD, very rare & neat promo & set in the Bewitched living room. Now i only need to find the Rose Bowl Parade itself somewhere, so i am on the prowl for that now. It will be neat to find as i am sure there will be a lot of stories and personal anecdotes from both hosts about their lives as there would have been a lot of time to fill as one can only say so much about the floats that are present. Well i got my hands on the 1991 80 minute long interview Elizabeth Montgomery did for the second audio track for her father's 1941 movie Here Comes Mr.Jordan.
This is such a kick to her her voice that long about so much of her life. In the 80 minute audio only interview she talks about the movie & her views on it but mostly about her & her father, his career, hers, Bewitched & personal views and anecdotes on her life. The neat thing about it all is that she rarely did interviews, when she did they were 3 or 4 min. long or 10 at the longest & here will be 80 min. or twice as much as all her other on camera interviews in her entire life put together, so this is cool & i am very excited about that. It is all audio with no video as it is designed to be played while you watch the movie as an alternative audio track, kind of like where you have one and the director is telling the listener how this scene was filmed & what happened at some point, that sort of thing with no video there ether. So scratch that one off of my want list. If anyone would like to obtain it contact me at LarrytateT@aol.com Larry Tate ![]() My Elizabeth Montgomery Have List: http://www.freewebs.com/larrytate550/ My Elizabeth Montgomery Want List: http://larrytate70.tripod.com/ My Non-Elizabeth Montgomery Have List: http://larrytate700.tripod.com/ |
