Court TV is being turned into "TruTV." This is such a load of crap!! It looks like they're keeping Forensic Files, but what about The Investigators? I hate all of those other "Beach Patrol" type shows. The only thing worse than Cops is a lame immitation of Cops. And you know they'll try to drop FF as soon as they possibly can for something that's even cheaper to produce.

I'm soooo disappointed they're doing this. CourtTV was my only hope since A & E has insisted on cutting back their true crime documentaries to almost nothing.
At least the Discovery Times channel show reruns of 48 Hours Mystery. Although they do have that LAME show The New Detectives which is the worst show ever. |

Hmm, yes indeed. Well I knew Court Tv was going straight to you know where after Turner took them over fully. I cannot believe they are bringing back Star Jones. Well, while this "TruTv" will continue trial coverage, I think eventually they will probably scale that back too, to just mornings as well. When they let Catherine Crier go I knew what direction they were going in. From what she said, she didnt like the direction the network was going in, so it didnt seem to me like she was really that sorry she was getting out of there.
I mean I have no problem with reality TV but in moderation. It just seems like our country has become so dumbed down that your average person cannot understand anything but reality television, but it gets huge ratings and it is cheaper to produce and therefore makes more money, hence why Turner is doing it. I mean why produce a show when you can just air re-runs of cops for hours on end? I do not mind Cops, I even like the show, I watch it on FOX whenever I can, but it gets a little ridiculous when Court Tv shows it for 3 or 4 hours straight sometimes. Also A and E is very disappointing, it is getting worse, just re-airing episodes of the Sopranos and CSI Miami and other net work sitcoms and getting rid of the crime shows. I saw just recently they got rid of City Confidential at least in the afternoons and replaced it with Crossing Jordan, and I imagine it is only a matter of time before they do the same to American Justice and Cold Case files. I find it just sad what is happening to CourtTv and some of that new programming they are thinking of unveiling is even worse than some of the crap they have on now. Hell Speeders and Beach Patrol look like academy award winning stuff compared to Neighbors 911 or Bounty Girls or Black Gold where people compete to drill oil or some of this other crap they are thinking of producing. |

Yeah, I agree with your sentiments about A&E as well. I used to have cable mainly for the programming on CourtTV and A&E. Now that Bill Kurtis no longer seems to have a relationship with A&E and CourtTV is changing formats, I'm thinking of cancelling my cable. I'd rather pay a monthly fee for Netflix. You can get just about any tv show on dvd now anyway.

Yes I've been disappointed with CourtTV's programming for a while now as well. Forensic Files is about the only thing worth watching on there anymore. I didn't realize that Bill Curtis had cut ties with A&E. I do notice they're still at least showing American Justice so thats good. Anymore the best channel imo to find true crime shows is Discovery Times but its one of our premium channels so you may have to have a big package to get it. Thankfully I do.

The only reason I have cable is for Court TV, A&E, Discovery, and occasionally the History Channel and TBS.
Reality shows are a load of crap. It's sad to see thats all that's on anymore. I don't think I can get a satellite dish in my apt.; otherwise I would so I could get Discovery Times and watch what's left of crime shows. It's so sad in America that the popular thing to do now is to sit on your couch and watch and "live" through the lives of others instead of having a life yourself. Pathetic. All the good crime and investigation shows like Cold Case Files, Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries, etc. are all being replaced with this useless crap. Every time I turn on Court TV, it's either Cops, police chase videos, or Beach Patrol. Sad. |

I knew it was only a matter of time before Court TV would head in the same direction A & E did. Once they added Bounty Girls Miami to their roster, I decided to disregard the network completely. I'm done with them. A title such as TruTV is self-explanatory as to the circus the network would bring forth. I strictly tune into Discovery Times now to satisfy my hunger for crime shows and I had absolutely no idea of its existence up until 2 months ago.

I agree with you guys...
CourtTV used to be one of my favorite channels but now it is like "White Trash TV." Forensic Files still rocks, but all the "Beach Patrol" shows are LAME and that bounty girls show was (as mentioned above) the official "jump the shark" for CourtTV. That is soooo disappointing. |

Yes, Court TV is really hyping up how they are becoming Tru TV. I still watch Court TV for their trial coverage sometimes during the week but that is about it. The Bounty Girls show is pretty bad, I cant honestly believe they even aired it. It is just pathetic, I dont really know why they are messing with a good thing they had, in terms of how Court TV's programming used to be. There is a saying, if it aint broke dont fix it, Court TV should have kept that in mind. However I expect this to get worse, Court TV is trying to kiss up to younger viewers and rednecks and such. But I will tell you, I knew Court TV had crossed the threshold into crap when they aired bounty girls.

What you're describing is way too common with TV networks in this day and age. Too many of them present certain types of programs just to please (or appease) certain demographics, in which case they are really representing a minority of viewers, instead of the overall majority. There used to be a time where networks represented audiences in general, instead of audiences of a certain group (age, ethnicity, etc.). But with the way things are going in the TV industry today, it almost goes without saying that the major networks are putting profits ahead of audiences |

Yeah, I agree with Kane. It's all about profits and ratings. I doubt I will be watching this new channel, save for Forensic Files.

I hate Bounty Girls and I think with the great ratings that Dog:Bounty Hunter brought to that other network, CourtTv thought they could rake in the same. Sorry, being a woman, I don't want to watch a show abt bounty women. I hated DOG, why would I want to see a female version?
One thing I am glad to have is Sirius Satellite. I have Court TV and the Discovery Channel. Court TV on satellite radio is a lot better than on television. I listen to Forensic Files when I have a chance. I have seen all the FF shows, so when I listen to it, it makes for interesting listening. |

Well, yes Court Tv officially becomes Tru Tv in less than hour, heck, Court TV even is now calling it's legal, daytime trial coverage "in session" because they didnt want to "confuse" their redneck evening viewers whom they were afraid might not be able to tell that they were watching the same channel.
I think they will keep the trial coverage during the day for now, but I wouldnt be surprised if they eventually scale that back so that is only on in the mornings, they have already shaved three hours after their trial coverage from last year at this time, but man, I will tell you Speeders and Beach Patrol, as I have said before, sound like academy award winning material compared to some of this other garbage they are planning on introducing. Like people competing to drill oil and this party stoppers type show, which is basically like a cheaper, sleazier version of COPS. I basically knew Court TV had finally completely turned the corner into total garbage when they aired Bounty Girls, that was about as low as they could get, but I knew Court TV was in trouble when Turner acquired them in 06, all he cares about is money and ratings and that is all! Even if he has to turn the network into total garbage, I am not really sure who he thinks he is impressing with this garbage programming. Supposedly they are seeing this massive influx of viewers in the age 18 to 35 bracket, as I said, I am not sure who he is trying to impress but I am not impressed by dumbed down and just trash programming. I mean is our country really that dumbed down where we like garbage like this just because it is "real"? Or as they say now, Tru TV, "it isnt reality, it is actuality." Lame. RIP Court TV. |
