Executive producers Tim Minear and Craig Silverstein were kind enough to spill the beans on what would have happened on Drive if FOX hadn't canceled the series.
Many fans were left wondering as only four of the six produced episodes aired earlier this year. FOX had planned on airing the two remaining episodes this summer but decided against it earlier this week. Drive Fans had the chance to interview Minear and Silverstein earlier this week and shared with us the spoilers that both men gave. Here is a run down of what would have happened on Drive: Sponsors for each team and character would differ and each would have had different motivations. John Trimble was his own sponsor. We would have learned that Wendy Patrakas's sponsors were an older couple who discovered that the infant child they adopted was actually Wendy's first child, whom she was told had died. Winston and Sean would have found out that their father was Winston's sponsor. However, it would have eventually been revealed that the real sponsor was Esteban Masferrer, Fernando's advisor, and that he wanted to use the race to take out father and sons so he could control the business. Ivy, Leigh, and Susan, were not sponsored and were chosen to race to liven up the competition. Wendy eventually returns to Ohio to rescue Sam but ends up getting grabbed by Richard and forced to go back home. However, Ivy decides to go to Ohio and rescue mother and son. The new trio returns to the race. In a later episode, Ivy would have sacrificed herself for Sam. Ellie's true evil and conniving nature would have been revealed. She was having an affair with Bill, the blue-eyed ground monitor working for the race. Bill would have ordered Ellie to break Rob out of a military brig so he could come back to the race. It is possible that Rob and Leigh would have hooked up down the road. John Trimble was not really sick. The medicine he took was making him sick. Nothing was set in stone by episode six as to if Alex's wife was working with the race organizers. But from Minear's answer, it does seem that she was working with them and as early as when she met Alex. Sadly, they don't reveal who would have won the race. Then again, maybe they don't know themselves as they probably left that open in case the series would have taken them in a different direction. They also say that if the series had lived on, each season would have seen a new race begin with old players taking new roles and new players being introduced. http://www.tvsquad.com/2007/07/11/wh...-had-lived-on/ |
