I stubbed my toe on a chair yesterday. I saw stars. That hasn't happened in ages. One of my toes is purple today.

Many years ago, I burned my thumb from oil while pan frying eggplant. The pain was awful, and it took forever to heal. It left a small scar.

There's my husband's trail of yellow paint which I posted about, when he strolled through the house, not realizing that there was a small opening on the bottom of the paint can. Of course, the cat ran through the paint, and through the house.

Going way back, I was visiting my mother. There was a problem with her toilet, so she was doing something to it. All I know is that the water sprung up from the toilet like a volcano, and didn't stop until my brother found the shut-off valve, a good 10 minutes. The place was flooded. She had to have her living room carpet replaced. I remember watching it, feeling so helpless and just crying.

- I sliced my pinky finger with a brand-new knife when I was cutting potatoes one night for dinner in June of 2002. The cut went pretty deep, and I have a scar from it. It doesn't even look like a scar, though, because I cut myself on the palm side of my pinkie finger, right next to the first set of creases. So nobody can see the scar, even if I point it out.

- One night in August of 2001, I had a frozen pizza in the oven... well, it finished baking in the oven so I went to take it out. I didn't see where my right hand was positioned so when I took the pizza out of the oven, it brushed against one of the extremely hot oven racks. I got a burn mark immediately... The next day, it looked really neat - silvery/red. It looked so much like a shiny silver mark.

I have a (now) barely-visible scar from that.

- I stubbed my left pinkie toe so many times on the dining room chairs when I was in my early teens (before I was 15), and now I have a messed up toenail.

- When I was 12 (this was in 1997), I was washing the dishes one day... my mom had the ironing board set up right next to where I was standing. Bad idea on her part - I reached over to rinse the dishes, and my arm brushed against the hot iron. I had to stop washing the dishes right then, because the pain was so bad... also left an iron-shaped scar on my arm (complete with circles where the holes in the iron didn't burn me) that took a year to fade.

I can't think of much else.

I slipped and fell in the garage and broke my wrist in 2000. That was the worst accident for me.

In 1995 I cut myself with a knife trying to break the seal off of a bottle of syrup. I had to go get stitches. I still have the scar.

In the late 1990s I broke the window in my room. I fell over and tried to stop myself from falling and my hand, with my palm out, went right through the window. I did not get a single cut or anything on my hand, wrist, or arm. It took me a minute to realize what happened and how lucky I was that I didn't get seriously injured. My parents wouldn't believe me when I told them; they thought I threw something at the window. I had to pay for the new window out of my own allowance.

These posts make my skin crawl. YIKES!

When I was 6 years old I was asleep in a large bed that I shared with my sister (she was 19 at the time). She had used the iron earlier in the day. SHE FORGOT TO TURN IT OFF OR UNPLUG IT. As I was asleep in bed, I woke up, but was half-asleep, half awake, I seen this thing and reached out for it, I pulled it and lo and behold next thing I know my knees are experiencing this pain that I don't ever want to experience again. I had yanked the iron off the ironing board. The hot iron was on two blankets, but the heat was so intense, it went right through and caused me second degree burns on both my knees. I was screaming bloody murder. I had these scars on my knees up until I was in my 20's. They are not visible anymore, which is a blessing consider how much I hated them. I am thankful for that.

I burned my three fingers two months ago when I was cleaning my stove. I forgot the burner had been on and for the life of me, I just happened to pick up the rack (not sure what is the proper term for it, but it covers the burner) and immediately dropped it on the floor. The intense heat was unbearable. I was in so much pain. Luckily, no scars from those burns.

I have stubbed my toes tooooo many times to count.

Once, I really thought I broke my toe, it was purple and it swelled up.

I slipped on my kitchen floor last year when it was raining outside and of course, walking into the kitchen brought some rain water in. I had these new tile floors installed and they are extremely slippery when wet. I had to wear a leg brace for several weeks. I was warned abt the hazard of having these tiles installed, but they are so beautiful and shiny. My son has slipped twice on the floor right after I mopped. You can't tell the floor is wet because the floor just glistens. I think I will have to buy one of those janitor signs FLOOR IS WET...CAUTION.

On the day of my 7th birthday party, I ran to the front door when one of my friends came and the door slammed on my finger and ripped the whole nail off. That kind of hurt.

about five months ago i reached behind my nightstand to unplug my tv....it's kind of tricky and always takes a few moments to get it all the way out, but i'd done it so many times before i didn't bother to look at what i was doing. i suddenly felt this strong and somewhat painful rush of energy go up through my arm. i immediately panicked and let go of the plug. the rush only lasted for a few more seconds, but during those few seconds i realized it was an electrocution and i was scared to death because i had NO IDEA how much longer it was going to last, how much damage it would cause, whether i'd be fine or end up in the hospital or what. when it was over i looked at my hand and noticed there were some fresh tears in my skin that certainly hadn't been there before. they were luckily the only injuries i got from it, so i didn't have to go to the hospital or anything.

shortly afterward, i realized that while i was pulling out the plug, i'd accidently touched the metal prongs before they were completely out of the socket. i posted a bulletin on myspace and used my story as an example to remind everyone not to be stupid while working with hazardous appliances.

When i was young i was playing in my aunts garden and there was which we call in england slabs big cobble sones lying against a wall which they were using to renew the cobbled floor,any ways i me being curious pulled one which was standing up right against a wall and it fell on my big toe and completely squashed it i was 7 years of age at that time they patched it up i still have the scar.
My mum tells everyone this story lol

You reminded me that I've broken a window, too... It was by accident, back in early 2005. I was just trying to close one of the windows, and it wouldn't close. So I forcefully pushed on it... Bad idea. That made such a big break in the window... Oops. Luckily, it was the outer window I broke (the place where I live has double glass windows, I don't know how else to describe it), so we took our sweet time getting it to be fixed, haha.

I had to replace that flapper thing in my toilet tank this morning because the old one was worn out.

Everything worked out fine, but I wasn't too crazy about touching toilet water.

IRENE, I thought for sure that you'd post about your son with the brownie in the microwave. That's the kitchen mishap story from hell.

Speaking of stories from hell, there was the time my husband was messing with the fireplace, and all the soot came pouring out, over everything. It ruined drapes, the sofa, you name it. It was awful.

That smell took FOR-EV-ER to go away.

I was thinking of injuries that happened to ME at home.

Lordy Lord, add that microwave disaster to the list. Long story short, five year old put a brownie in the microwave for what must have been minutes instead of seconds...SMOKE SMOKE SMOKE SMOKE...BURNT SMELL!

Burning eyes, burning throats, cough cough cough.

I had some foaming toilet bowl cleaner, a powder kind. I poured some in, and it appeared to be doing nothing, so I dumped a bunch in. Oops. I have a picture of it if anyone wants to see.

I've burnt myself twice on the oven; once on the back of the hand to the top of the inside, and once on the elbow on the door.

My dad weedwhacked his ankle a couple weeks ago.

I'm always running into doors and walls.

It's pathetic.

I fell out of bed once a couple months back. Long fall too; my bed sits up pretty high.

I put car keys in an electrical outlet. I put a phone chord(that was plugged into the wall) in my mouth. Fell over a railing(8 stitches and a scar later). Ran into a glass shower door(few stitches and scar in my hand later).

Lets just say I was a "handful" as a child

oh and the best accident to date in my household has been the chandelier incident. My stepdad, my mom and I drove into NYC to pick up this way too overprices dinning room chandelier that my mom bought. Well as me and my stepdad were carrying it into the house we somehow just instead of placing it down gently kind of just dropped it like you would a laundry basket. All you heard were crystals shattering...the man that owned the store gave us a nice discount on the next one we went in and bought an hour later. Its a funny story now but i'll never forget the look on my moms face when she heard that noise.
