Through a few emails with the person in charge of TV-on-DVD over at Anchor Bay, I asked, since I am a fan of both shows, if they have any plans currently in purchasing the rights to both Three's Company spinoffs, The Ropers and Three's a Crowd. They replied by saying they had no plans in releasing these shows at all, since they would not be very profitable to the company an would bring in the money they'd want. This strikes me as insane, since the TC sets sold well, and these are the spinoffs. I have only seen both shows a few times, but I would still buy them, since they are TC spinoffs.
I just thought I'd mention this at this board, since I know there are a lot of fans of The Ropers and Three's a Crowd here. |

I would love to see The Roper's again and would buy it on DVD. Since Anchor Bay won't release it, we need to try to get a smaller company to. I think maybe BCI.
jhayne@bcieclipse.com is the email listed for person in charge of DVD licensing. Let's all send them an email. |

Idiots. They'd rather sell best of sets and I don't see how they would be that profitable now that all the season sets have been released.

Through another email, I asked why not, and she told me because there is not enough consumer participation or effort to get it onto DVD. If she saw there were a lot of people out there who wanted the show on DVD, they might give it consideration.
This is what happened with Grounded for Life. They said they weren't going to release the last season because of no interest in it, but they got enough emails, and now the last season is coming out in September. I hope something like that could haoppen with TR/TAC. Here's the email address for Anchor Bay if you want to email them asking for it: suggestions@anchorbayent.com |

This sounds like a petition might work. If we started a petition and only people who honestly intend to buy the DVDs signed it, we'd show Anchor Bay that enough people want it.
Those shows may not have been popular when they first aired, but the fact that "Three's Company" is still a huge show in reruns and obviously in DVD sales, I believe that there's a huge amount of people who would buy "The Ropers" and "Three's a Crowd". If not for the shows that they are, but for the chance to see more adventures of Stanley, Helen and Jack in their repective shows. Time has passed since those shows were on the air and there's a new generation of "Three's Company" fans. Maybe this new generation of fans WOULD like to see the two spin-offs. |

But the best of Jack and Janet DVD will pull in a lot of money??-lol I'm sure Three's a Crowd will do well since Jack would be on the DVD Cover, now the Ropers on DVD may not make any money unless.........
They Put a Photo of Jack on the front of the DVD cover over top of Helen and Stanely titled-"The Three's Company Spinoff featuring the "THE ROPERS" |

I"d like to see them release both on the same day, bundled together, in different box sets. That way, if we wanted to buy Three's a Crowd, which I"m more a fan of, then we'd also have to buy the Ropers, which many people would do. Plus, it's guaranteed to make money since it's only a one time deal.
And, just email Anchor Bay with the address I posted in my last thread. That should at the least do a little. |

I'm not holding my breath for Anchor Bay. I emailed them over a year ago adn I know others have too, yet they still won't consider releasing it. I think we should also email BCI.

This doesn't surprise me at all. Although we'd all like to see our personal favorite shows out on DVD, economics drives the marketplace. If they don't see a profit to be had, they're not going to put the effort into releasing something.
That having been said, start a petition, bombard them with e-mails. Mobilize the hardcore fanbase to let Anchor Bay know that perhaps there is an audience for product like this. To us, they're classic shows, but to the DVD companies, they're product. And if a product can move a certain amount of units (sales), then they will release it. Family Guy was cancelled by Fox a few years back and when the DVD sets were released to very substantial sales, the show was brought back on network TV, thus ensuring future DVD volumes for the new seasons. For years, fans of the movie Superman II lobbied Warner Bros. for a re-edited version of the movie with footage left out by the movie's original director, Richard Donner (he was replaced midway through the shooting by another director). Last year, Warner released Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut on DVD with several scenes shot by Donner reinstated into the film. The point of the last two paragraphs is to illustrate that fans can have an impact on what gets released on DVD. |

But in some cases, there are not enough fans out there or on these message boards to do that. My best case would be Murphy Brown. I know there are a lot of people who love the show and would buy a second season, but unfortunately, the number of people on these kinds of sites vs. the number of buyers for the products is just not enough. I hope it isn't the same way with these 2 spinoffs.
