Default What traits do you find essential in a partner?

Throughout your life what traits did your partner(s) have that really worked? What do you look for in a lover?

Although I haven't really been around the block...

Reliability.

That is the one thing I can think of that, given an absence of, would be a deal breaker.

Reliability and responsibility and maturity. Tenderness and intelligence.

-- Sense of humor (pretty much a must for me). I'm more in to the quirky, funny guys.

-- HONESTY! Goddamn, I can't stress this enough. If you're open and sincere, there will be no problems with me. I really appreciate people who don't hide their true selves.

-- Good conversationalist/listener...I like a nice balance of these two traits. It's nice to have someone to talk to for hours, yet can also lend a sympathetic ear.

-- Kindness/respect to people and animals. I don't tolerate idiots, sorry.

-- Common interests...it's nice to have something in common, whether it be our love for creative things or music or whatever!

Ditto to all the qualities listed above. I'll add good hygiene. I'm serious about that too. Before I met my husband, I broke up with a guy because he didn't shower daily, and he also had a problem locating his toothbrush.

nice smile
good personality
knows how to have a good time

if a girl knows how to have a good time, goes to nightlcubs, knows how to dance, then that's all that matters to me.

i don't need someone who judges me. I had a girl who wanted to change me, conform me into what she wanted me to be, and believe me it sucks. i just want a girl who will want me for me and not want to change me into who she WANTS me to be.

but unfortunately a lot of the girls that I have met have been like that. if I could find a nice girl who likes me for who I am, we would be all set.

Sense of humor is important to me.

If someone gets my sense of humor, so they know when i am kidding or not.

Also, i adore personality. Someone who is a little more outgoing than I am, since I can be very reserved, brings me out of my shell.

To paraprhase Jack Nicholson in "As Good As It Gets," I want someone who "will make me want to be a better person."

Lots of things, but biggest is just that he can put up with me. I'm annoying and depressed. Real great qualities guys look for.

I dunno...is okay with me being a hermit houseplant. Has a sense of humor. Mature. Not a sex fiend. Knows how to visit a barber/hair stylist. Likes my parents. Is willing to go to a doctor when they are sick. Doesn't make fun of what I watch on TV. Can get along with kids. Has a brain and actually uses it. Doesn't look at me hideously when I get mad at people who don't recycle. Has moderate-low self-esteem (because I do). Can add things for me. Doesn't spend every single weekend going out and getting smashed, only to either drunk call me or puke all over my bathroom. That would make me very angry, and you wouldn't like me when I'm that angry. Doesn't find it odd that I have many stuffed animals and a Cabbage Patch doll that sleep on my bed. I'm a little girl at heart.

Intelligence is the sexiest thing in a woman to me, back in school, while most of the guys were hitting on the "bubbles"., i was always after the "A" student girls. I love a girl I can look in the eye, and who can look at me the same way ( im 5'1" , so, anyone over 5'4" is WAY too tall ! ) Other than that, i cant say that i have any other "prerequisites" in my choices for a woman; all women have their own unique charms.

Nothing super new, but honesty is the most important to me. Otherwise, I look for intelligence, humor (particularly, a nice dry sense of humor), integrity, open, patient, and lol, they have to be able to cook since I can't!!

- Cute face
- Nice ass
- Nice legs
- At least shoulder length hair
- Kind of ghetto
- Hot
- Hot
- Hot
- oh yeah a good personality would be nice, but it doesn't really matter as long as she has the other things.

I've already found my guy but things I looked for (and found);
-Maturity but also knowing how to "let go" and be a complete goof .
-Good morals
-He needs to not only have -goals- but be out there doing what he needs to do in order to achieve them.
-Strong relationships with his family
-Protective in the caring way not the jealous way.
-Men who have back bones and aren't whipped.
-and of course Honesty
