'Heroes' stars are coming to a country near you

Promote the DVD, save the world? Or maybe the global economy?

NBC's break-out hit from last season, "Heroes" will send forth its cast to half a dozen or more major international cities this summer to push sales for the Aug. 28 DVD and HD DVD release of the show's first season. In keeping with the show's international flavor, cast members will make appearances in Tokyo; Hong Kong; Singapore; Munich, Germany; Paris; London; and New York. Other international cities are expected to join the list before the weeklong tour — also designed to attract viewers for the show's second season — begins.

International trips for television casts are rare, but "Heroes' " great success, both in foreign countries and on the Internet, helped greenlight the unusual proposal from series creator and executive producer Tim Kring.

"Clearly, 'Heroes' has struck a chord with people around the world," Kring said at a Thursday morning press conference.
