Default My dad died the other day....

Actually, it was July 2nd. I would've posted sooner but I've been dealing with things.

I'm not only posting this to tell you of his death but I would like to honor him by saying a few things about him.

He & my mom were married for 44 years. They were high school sweethearts. It wasn't always roses. In fact, I can remember quite a few times when I was teenager, my mom threatening divorce. I can remember my sister & I always saying that if they got divorced, we would want to live with dad. But they stuck it out and got through it.

I always thought he was a great husband & father, but more so, he was an awesome human being. He didn't abuse my mom or us kids, he didn't run around on my mom, and was basically a hard worker. He did get laid off a few times and I do remember money was tight sometimes. We never went hungry though, even if we had something cheap & simple like pancakes or spagetti for dinner.

He would help anybody who needed it. He was an electrician for alot of years and he knew how to fix alot of other things, and if anybody needed any help, he was there, taking no money for the work he did. Alot of people knew him and he knew alot of people. I can't believe the calls and cards we've been getting about him since Monday. The funeral home asked how many people we expect for his service and we couldn't even begin to think of how many there's going to be.

I'm out of town alot for my job but I'm so glad I was able to get home for what was his last Father's Day. He just retired and he wasn't even able to enjoy his retirement!

Please don't think I'm being insensitive but he declined so rapidly in the last few months, and I'm glad he went quickly instead of him lingering for years. What he was going through, it was no way to live.

Sorry I'm rambling. These are things I would like to say at his service but I know that if I did, I would probably lose it halfway through.

So thanks for 'listening'.

I'm sorry for your loss. Your dad sounded like a really nice guy. It must feel really good to know that so many other people thought of him the same way.

Sad My deepest condolences

I'm so sorry to hear of your father's passing. He sounds like he was a wonderful man indeed. It's so hard losing a parent. Nobody loves us the way they do. Hold onto your memories, they'll always be yours. My prayers to your father and your family, and especially your mother for the strength to get through this difficult time.

.

My dad passed away about a month and a half ago, and that's how it was with him. He hasn't been in the best of health for the last 6 years, but he wasn't ill. It was only in the last few months that he began to decline rapidly. And it took us all a little off guard.

It's so weird to thing that he's not just a phone call away. He's always been there.

If you need to talk, I'm only a pm away.

I am very sorry. It's hard to lose a dad, and I know that firsthand as well. Time is a remarkable thing that it does take a lot of the pain away, and after some time had passed I found it helped me to remember him for the way he lived and not the way he died.

Hang in there and take comfort in your family and friends.

Oh that is terrible news. I am really sorry to hear this. My heart aches. I know losing a parent makes the world seem so empty. I just hope the memories you have of him will remain with you always. Sounds like you had a great father. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Hang in there sweetie.
