Question Your Parent's Favorite TV Shows?

My parents are gone now, yet I remember with fondness the shows they loved to watch. My father loved Murder She Wrote, College Football and of course, the New England Patriots.

My mother loved The Golden Girls, Designing Women and Frasier. During the day, she always had Lifetime on, and loved those made-for-tv Lifetime movies. My mother enjoyed watching the Red Sox, actually more than my father. My mother went wild for 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' when it hit the scene. We used to call each other during tense moments on the show.

They watched Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy together every night. Going way back, they enjoyed Columbo and Quincy.

My Mom's favorite shows were The Waltons, Little House on the Praire, Columbo, Quincy, Touched By An Angel, Murder She Wrote.

My Dad never really had a favorite show though he liked AITF. He mainly watches sports now.

Awesome Thread!!!!!

Ok, I was too young to know what my mom loved to watch, but I know for a fact she loved watching at Easter time THE TEN COMMANDMENTS and all the biblical movies.

My dad, HE WAS THEEEEEE BIGGEST DODGER FAN EVER! He bought a satellite dish (back when they were the thing to have) so he could watch Dodger home games. DODGERS DODGERS DODGERS, if there was a game on, he would watch it.

He also loved to watch the westerns, BONANZA, GUNSMOKE, etc. And oh yes! ALL THE COURT TV SHOWS, Judge Judy, Divorce Court, People's Court (he especially loved the original People's Court with that white-haired judge, can't remember his name). Any court show, he watched it. He had a television at his business. That tv was on all day long. In between work and customers, my dad would watch it.

He was also a huge fan of QUINCY.

I remember after my dad died, as I went through his stuff at his business, I found his "tv listing" that he wrote. He wrote the times and channels that his fave shows came on.

She was addicted to it. Every Sunday night. The Waltons was her favorite show though. She'd watch the reruns for years after the show left the air. And every Christmas we had to watch The Homecoming.

*screen gets blurry* Your Dad sounds like he was such a wonderful man, Irene. It comes across in all your posts about him.

Ohhhhh, my dad loved MURDER SHE WROTE too.

Janice, how funny you posted blurry screen. I was getting tears in my eyes as I wrote that. I had this smile on my face but the tears were welling up as I was remembering what he watched. God, there are other shows that he loved to watch, but for the life of me I can't remember, the obvious ones came to mind.

The Waltons isn't a western. Maybe you're confusing it with Little House on the Praire.
