Default Missing Baby

The Marlys Thomas story always saddened me. I wondered if there had been any further updates to this story. I googled her and Mary Agnes Gross, her baby's name and came up with a couple of stories you had to pay for. I did find out though, that the baby's DNA in her daughter's grave was compared to Maryls' and it's NOT her baby! Apparently the DNA from the baby in the grave doesn't match the mother of the other baby either, the one that Marlys thought may have been in her baby's grave (remember she went to visit her baby's grave and other people were holding a funeral there?).

Very sad, twisted story. Just wondering if anyone had heard anything additional.

Thanks for posting that Kamy. I didn't realize there was a dna test done. I always thought that Marlis' baby was taken from her and given to another couple. Maybe some doctor figured she couldn't take care of it since I believe she mentioned she wasn't with her husband at the time of the birth and took it or even sold it. Plus the mystery picture that was sent to her shortly after her daughter's birth of the family with a baby who closely resembled Marlis' husband. The dna results may have given Marlis a sense of relief to know that her baby hadn't died but gut wrenching to not know what ever became of her. How very bizarre that the body buried didn't match the other baby either. Could they both have been stolen? Very interesting.

The link above is where I got my info. It has a few stories on Mary Agnes and Marlys, but you have to pay to read the full text.

I'll see what else I can find.

That was the case where she received a mysterious picture of a family with a baby, right?

Okay this may not have to do with this case but...

I was watching Silvia Browne on the Montel Williams show. Don't remember the exact date but it was probably within the past year... and a lady in the audience stood up and asked Sylvia a question.

What she asked what exactly what this story was about. That she was young and had a baby and was told that it died. And she talked about seeing people at the gravvesite of her baby but found out that they were there for some other baby.

And she talked about dna testing and all. Basically the exact same thing as the story says.

I immediately thought of this story and wondered if this was the same lady.

Well Sylvia said that her baby did die. That it was not switched accidentally or stolen or sold. That back then, things weren't always done as tedious as they are today. And to not worry. That her daughter is not out there somewhere.

SO... if anyone believes anything that Sylvia Browne says... yes I know she was wrong about Shawn Hornbeck... then according to her, this lady's baby is indeed dead.

Just thought I'd share what i saw on tv.

It means he's not buying what Sylvia Browne's saying. Am I right Wiseguy?

Yes, when I said 'no sale', I meant that I don't buy it. Several of us have already discussed at length at how we feel Sylvia Brown is money-grubbing opportunist with no emotion for people's tragedies. Do a search and see what I'm talking about.

This play a few days ago. The body was tested in 1996 and was not her baby. Her mother attended the wrong funeral....how.....so puzzling. She received a picture of the baby. UM didn't show it up close. They should have so someone out there can recognize this family!!!! So sad for this lady.

Now not only does know one know who the family of babies remains belong too. There are two families that do not know what happened to their babies. I'm telling you it's a black market baby ring.

I'm looking for the baby's birthdate & where Marlis Thomas had the baby in Minnesota. I just watched the show & if the baby was born in Minnesota, she should be listed in the birth index. Any living baby born there is listed at birth, even if they died an hour later. If they died, they would be listed in the death index. Its that simple & I wondered why no one has figured that out yet. I'm a FREE adoption searcher (they call them angels, but I don't like being called one. lol !!) & have done this for over 20 years, FREE. Check G's Adoption web page & you'll find me there on the internet. Bob

On here: unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Mary_Agnes_Gross (its the link without a ???? in front of it, I can't post it ... lol !!!), they have the wrong birth date, its:
MARY AGNES GROSS 6/12/1962 NOBLES (father) LATON WILLIAM HERMAN GROSS (mother's maiden name) MARLYS JANICE SISK

These are the other kids born on that date in that county: (all girls)
BIRTH FIRST MIDDLE BIRTH SURNAME DOB BIRTH COUNTY FATHERS FIRST MIDDLE FATHERS SURNAME MOTHERS MAIDEN FIRST MIDDLE MOTHERS MAIDEN SURNAME
RACHEL JOY VANGERPEN 6/12/1962 NOBLES EMORY JOHN VANGERPEN PHYLLIS JEAN ZYLSTRA
CONNIE MARIE ALTMAN 6/12/1962 NOBLES GLEN JOHN ALTMAN CECELIA THERESA HENNING
PAMELA RAE DICKEY 6/12/1962 NOBLES RAYMOND NICHOLAS DICKEY SARAH MARGARET DEWBERRY

If it were me, I'd be looking at the two who are living that we know of. We can assume Dickey died ??? Or maybe she was switched too. Seems strange that two born on that date both died & two are living. Also, I would be looking at Iowa, its next to Minnesota & that county: Nobles County. There aren't that many people in it, no big cities.

The two deaths:
INDEXKEY FIRSTNAME MIDDLENAME LASTNAME SUFIX BIRTHDATE DEATHDATE BIRTHPLACE DEATHCOUNTY MOTHERSMAIDENNAME
1962-MN-012508 MARY AGNES GROSS born:06/12/1962 died:6/12/1962 MINNESOTA NOBLES SISK

1962-MN-012510 PAMELA RAE DICKEY born:06/12/1962 died:6/13/1962 MINNESOTA NOBLES DEWBERRY

I ran the death certificate number in between them & found another baby died who was born the day before them. Strange that 3 babies were born alive & died in two days in such a small county. There may be more that year, I'll check later. Weird !!!!!!!!!!

Check this out. Look how many babies were born in 1962 & died, either the same day they were born or the next day. Strange for a small population. There are only 21,000 people in the county. I don't have them all, I only ran the numbers like this: 1962-MN-012* (* is a wild card search to give me all of them between 000 & 999.) You will see other counties, but Nobles has the most fitting what I said above. Strange in my opinion. Its also strange that the other county with a lot of them, Murray County, is right next to Nobles County. Could the same hospital or doctors be serving both counties ???? Weird to me.
