The other basement enterance - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

We all know that the enterance to the basement is in the kitchen but i was watching the second part of the final episode yesterday and as the camera pans round the table when everyone is eating chinese, through window where the tap is you can see another door in the service porch. Could this be the other enterance to the basement?

I guess it could be. Do you remember the episode with the Monopoly game and DJ saying "they made me play!"? He came from the basement through the service porch then. So, I guess you would be right. If only we could watch it on N@N......oh well.

I am confused about the basement entrance. On the early opening credits when they pan around the table, we can see a door on the side of the kitchen that the stove is on. Crystal emerges from it (for some unknown reason). In the ep. where the family surprises Roseanne for her birthday and converts the basement into an office, the family crosses the room to exit through that door. I don't remeber them using it again.

After that, it seems everyone goes into the service porch to enter the basement. Whenever David comes from or goes to his room, he goes that way.

Maybe they had to change the set. I know that when they got rid of the factory set they built the kids' bedrooms in its place. I wonder if that coincided with changing the basement entrance.
