Default I didn't realize how annoying Myrtle was in the later seasons!

I've been watching the eps on ABC family and I didn't realize how much they put the Myrtle Urkel character on the show. It was bad enough that we had Stephan. She was funny for that one episode she first appeared in. But I think it was really unnecessary to have her return in the last seasons. Especially since Jaleel White was growing up and his voice deepened. I found it rather embarrassing for the actor to pretend being this nerdy high pitched voice female. It wasn't funny anymore... it was just as bad watching him still play Steve Urkel.

Yeah, another pointless and unoriginal character. They really dropped the ball when they made Reginal Vel-Johnson to play her rich father.

The only episode that I really liked Myrtle in was the first one. I could not stand her(him) in the later episodes chasing after Eddie. It was not funny at all!

Really now, I think we should give the Myrtle character some credit. And especially give Jaleel some credit for being able to not only portrait a girl (albeit a nerdy ugly one), but also to turn his voice so high! Well, he had to warm up, but still, how many men would be able to do that, even with warming up?

Myrtle was in every other episode in the eighth season, and for most of the ninth. I could not stand her from the start, but when I would turn on the show Friday night and see her face taking up my screen, I'd just walk away. Whenever the writers couldn't think of storylines for their regular characters, they could always rely on Myrtle to come to the rescue, that's for sure.

Hm, I've only seen the 8th season once, and I've never seen the 9th season. So I can't speak for those seasons.

This thread is not about Jaleel's skills as an actor but the character of Mrytle being annoying with all of those appearances. He was already playing Steve Urkel who was the star of the show, so Mrtyle was unnecessary.

Yeah, I guess she was, but the show was silly and unrealistic enough in the end anyway. It was unnecessary to bring her back for the last seasons (Why would a Southern girl go to college in Chicago anyway?), but she wasn't any worse than Stephan. And when people complain even about Steve, they do seem to forget what a hard roll only that must have been to play, and Jaleel doesn't get the credit, that he actually deserves.

Myrtle was good for one episode, maybe two. After that, ENOUGH ALREADY!!

How true. Myrthle should just have been someone, who came for a visit to Chicago once in a while, and not a freaking regular!

*And this is my 500th post!*
