Default Irene after watching the True Hollywood Story again, I realized that John Amos was

fired from the article in the September 1975 issue of Ebony and that Lear had found out about it and keep it to himself that he wasn't going to bring Amos back for season 4. I always thought that it was ANOTHER magazine that Lear had discovered a article in during 1976 and never realized that it was the Magazine i already had-lol So that issue is no DEAD, there is no more research to do in regards to Amos getting fired

It was the sept-1975 issue of Ebony. I didn't pay attention to that when I first watched THS of Good Times. I thought it was a Ebony Magazine from Jan 1976 to June 1976

Oh, so it was Ebony, you just thought it was a different year. Gotcha.

Can you somehow post that article on here? Or at least copy it word for word?

I posted the article on here about a year or two ago. I'll bump it up.

No doubt abt that sister. I am sure if GT aired today and the same thing occurred, there would be no doubt that John Amos' chitter chatter abt GT would not be taken so damn literally.

Unless John pulled an Isiah Washington stunt, then maybe his job would be on the line, but John is nowhere on that stupid level with that jerk.

Well it didn't suffer in the ratings...But the show was much better with james...i really didn't like it without him...

he had a menacing way about him that was actually funny..

especially when keeping JJ in line...

so we can't say it was stupid because how manymore years could it have gone on with James anyway?

The show was like Gilligan's Island with James...How many times can you ALMOST make it out of the ghetto??

Indeed. Just look at the fine job John Amos did as Gordy on The Mary Tyler Moore show. One of few things I wished the MTM show had done was have the character on more. There are quite a few things I disliked about Good Times, and this, of course, is one of them.
