Default Unaired Episodes and Storylines

Okay, I heard of an unaired episode about marijuana that was unproduced and then later reworked as "Going To Pot". Anybody else know anything about this? Or any other unaired episodes? And also, in Fall of 1980, they had to completely scrap an entire show due to Suzanne Somers. Does anybody know what it was about?

This is the first I've heard of a "pot" show, but I think it would've been hilarious with the TC cast. Look at the hysterical episodes of Barney Miller and Sanford & Son that had to do with illegal substances (well, in the case of S&S, it was only parsley). Was this in the Roper or Furley years? For some reason, I think it would've been funnier with Furley.

I'm not sure, I think it was the Furley years. I wish I had the script for the one they scrapped due to Suzanne Somers and the one that they wrote her out on.

They already had a marijuana episode where Larry thought pot was in one of Mrs.Roper or Chrissy's plants but it really wasn't but then in the end Janet does find some pot in one of the plants. I think Mrs. Roper was entering her plants into a contest or something.

Is that the episode you're talking about?

No, I know that's "Days of Beer and Weeds". But, I thought I read that there was another one that was just too extreme. Maybe I'm just dreaming or something. I still would like to find out about those other scripts. Is there anybody we can write to?

"Going To Pot" is an 8th season show that wasn't shown on TV very often until a couple years ago. In this show, Jack is having trouble with a building inspector who wants Jack to pay him off. Of course, Jack doesn't want to do that, so he and Janet set a tape recorder to catch the guy asking for the money. Only problem is that Jack had asked Mr Furley to pick up a pot he was going to need and while Janet is fiddling with the tape recorder, she records Mr Furley saying that he will pick up the pot. Now, Jack does get the building inspector to ask for the bribe again, but when he gives the tape to a police officer, the officer hears about the pot and jumps to the wrong conclusion. He and his partner try to set up Mr Furley, thinking that he is a drug lord. It's a very funny show, be sure to keep an eye out for it, as it should be coming on TVLand soon, I believe.

Yeah, that episode was hilarious and so were many others that season. Season 8 might have been the best season of all or definitely in the top 2 or 3. The best episodes were with Terri and Cindy since things were just getting too bland and stale with Chrisy.

I know in the fifth season episode ...And Justice For Jack, the original script called for Chrissy to defend Jack in court (which probably would've been the funniest episode ever). Also, notice Furley, got a lot of Chrissy's "dumb" lines; I think Furley's character took off even more after that happened.

I think this whole idea was re-used in Married With Children after a burglar broke into Al Bundy's house and Al knocked him out. The burglar took him to court (lol), and Kelly was Al's lawyer.

This show had a lot of references to the drug scene. On one of the blooper reels with Chrissy you can notice the actor sniffing a lot. It was the episode where Chrissy pours wine on her date.
