Default missing episodes

Those episodes are floating around in "complete" Petticoat Junction sets but youll find out if you trade for it that most of the episodes were left out because they are of VERY low quality or are missing the sound.

During that time period, the Networks did a lousy job of maintaining a decent library. In the 50s, there are so much that is completely lost and will never be recovered.

Here is a rub, at a certain time, the Networks and Movie People started using the Library of Congress to store their programming. They don't store it themselves. And, yes, it's done on your dime. You would be surprised to find out what is really in the Library of Congress. You would have to visit there with the proper recording equipment, sign your life away, etc. and make your copies from the originals.

The problem with even doing that, early TV shows were 29 minutes allowing 1 minute for network ID, Public Services, etc.. The Ads were part of the programming. What the Networks did was remove the early Ads so they could do modern rerun ads and it shortened it up to 21 to 25 minutes. The Ads were sometimes the best part of the programming. Chances are, the original will be in the Library of Congress so it might be worth the trouble to complete any set.
