Question How many times did it take you to pass your Driver's test??

Right now I am studying Oregon's Driver's manual so that I can eventually get my learners permit. I never considered getting a drivers license until recently because of my agoraphobia, and locking myself up in my room for 8 years. Now that I'm getting better though, and am medicated, and getting out more and stuff, it's definitely something I want to do. It's pretty embarrassing having to take the bus to go out on dates, or have your roomate drive you, so that's the main reason I've decided to try and get a drivers license. Anyway, I was just wondering, for those of you with a drivers license, how many times did you have to take the written exam before you got your learners permit, and how many times did you have to take the actual driver's test before getting your license??

Dude, I was lucky I guess. I passed the written test for the lerner's permit on the first try and I passed the road test on the first try also.

It's great that you feel the need to be more independent, Little Mel.....getting out of the house and whatnot. Congratulations!

Thanks Tara!! This is definitely a huge step for me, but I know that I can do it. I've actually been studying for this like crazy as well, and so hopefully I'll be able to pass on my first try like you did. I've taken a bunch of practice tests, and have done really well on them, so I don't think I'll have much trouble. I'm planning on going and taking the test within the next week, and I can't wait!!

Thanks so much ROGER!!! It's definitely a great feeling to finally be living life after so many years of solitude. My life has definitely improved greatly, and I know that it's only going to get better!!

Twice.....the first time the examiner was in a foul mood and made the test extra hard , the second time, he was late for an appointment and gave me a test i could have passed with my eyes shut ( He didnt even ask me to parallel park< Good thing, cause I couldnt!!! {I can now though} )

Damn, I hope I get a driving instructor like that. That's pretty good passing on your second try. I know people who have taken it 3 and 4 times, and they still haven't passed. I guess they're so anxious to get their license, that they don't take the time to prepare properly.

You'll always feel better about yourself when you're independent like that....such as driving your own car.

I know I felt a lot of independence, self-worth, accomplishment, etc. when I passed my road test and got my first car. That was a long time ago.

Anyhow, good luck to you, Little Mel. Be safe on the road, dude!

Heres an easy way to pass first time....Go out driving with someone you know, whos taken the test recently, they can show you what youre likely to be asked and you can prepare for it, I did this for my younger brother, and he passed first time with only one fault!

The written test was kinda a joke. Common sense questions. No problem there.

I agree. "What colour is a stop sign?" Um...

I took the actual driving test only once. I was too scared to mess up. In MA, we have actual MA state troopers in the car with us.

It only took me once, and I remember being pretty nervous. But I only missed 2 questions and the driving part went fine. Hope you do well on the test.

Honey, I got my license on the FOURTH try. I kept knocking over the cones (out of sheer nervousness). It was so frustrated I felt like giving up, but I'm glad I stuck it out. I'm sure you will do great!!
