Default A Missing Persons DVD should be issued

There are so many great missing persons segments on UM that I am surprised that they haven't yet issued a Missing Persons DVD. Does anyone know if there are any plans to do so? Cases like the Cyndi Anderson and Angela Hammond ones along with the case of the Sara Jo could go on such a DVD set. Are there any other ones that any of you would put on there?

Don't even get me started.... lol. I could name a bunch of folks. Cindy Song, Dr. Sneha Philip, Judy Himes (), and Adam Hecht for starters.

If you search the forum, you should find a thread regarding what boxed set we'd like to see next. I believe that Missing Persons was leading the pack the last time I saw the thread...

This is an excellent idea and if we had enough on the list it could be divided into solved and unsolved cases (two DVDs).

YES!

Unexplained death cases were my favorite, followed by Missing. I'd like to see it contain some of the "famous" cases and then some with updates. Missing persons were some of the best UM cases ever.

it's times like these i wish all the um fans could pool donation money and buy the dvd rights to um, haha. I wonder how much those rights were sold to first look for. They put so many seasons of so many different shows on dvd, why not this? It was a hit show for so long and people would eat it up!

I've also assumed that the reason UM mainly devoted to its DVD sets to stuff like ghosts, UFOs and legends is because of the complicated legalities of getting permission from a victim's family. Some families just may not like the idea of their loved one's case being featured on a DVD that's being sold for profit. I always wondered if they had to get specific permission for all the cases they featured on their "Bizarre Murders" DVD and may have influenced their choices about what segments to show (why else would they have included that random segment about Hitler and Saddam Hussein?!).

Still, putting a missing persons case on a commercial DVD increases the chances that someone who knows something will watch it and provide important information, so it definitely has an upside.

If they ever did this, they should ONLY put the cases that are still unsolved. Like Adam Hecht etc.

That I agree on. The Missing and Unexplained Death segments were by far the best ones on UM (definitely the ones that generate the most commentary on this site as well!) and should be featured in collections.

As far as the bizarre murders DVD, I don't think that they would have to get permission as the majority of the bizarre murders were either solved or had been portrayed in other venues and forms of media.

I think the the problems would be with missing person segments most of the segments might require additional releases to be signed by any family members still living and that re-releasing some of the more "questionable" cases might actually "dilute" the quality of the mysteries.

Still unsolved cases like Adam Hecht, Oliver Munson, Gordon Page Jr., Patricia Meehan and others need as much exposure as they can get. A while ago a new DVD set was supposed to be released, I think in 2009, but it was apparently shelved because Cosgrove and everyone else thought it wouldn't sell. There is still a huge cult-following and fanbase of the original series on the internet such as this forum, and elsewhere.

Amen. If they put out a missing person's box set, I'd be sure to show the cases to everyone I know, and I know many people throughout different parts of the country.

A Dvd or special UM broadcast focusing on these missing persons (Without Farina and the star trek set up).

Definitely! These cases were certainly among UM's most interesting and mysterious.
