Can you imagine eating some of the exotic dishes served at the Clampetts? It was a combination of Fear Factor and Survivor combined.
Dinner may include: Stuffed Owl (Barn Owl) Gopher Gravy Hog Jowls Deep fried possum Crawdads |

I wouldn't mind trying Granny's deviled Hawk eggs. I'd like to try her deserts like the homemade pies. I don't think I would like to eat dinner with the Clampetts.

I'd pass on dinner with the Clampetts too. Even though I was brought up in the south, I've never eaten any of that stuff.

I may. I don't see anything in that list I wouldn't at least sample. But the only one I know I have eaten before is crawdads. They're not bad; just remove the meat from the tail by peeling it, and eat it. I live in Texas, not too far from Cajun country, so crawfish are a choice on many buffets, even one where I sometimes dine which is supposed to be Chinese
. In SW Louisiana I have seen people eating them by the bucketfulls, because there is so little meat in a single one.I have also eaten rattlesnake, another choice in which there is very little meat. And it does-- believe it or not-- taste like chicken. I don't think even the Clampetts mention eating rattlers. |

You can actually buy chitterlings and things like that in stores, and gizzards, etc...
If you look in stores you can find more than you think. I would try their food, it was probably actually good, the tadpole soup and gopher gravy did NOT sound too good though. My grandma' mother used to cook possum I heard. |
