Am I in the minority on this one?

Did anyone else feel sorry for the Chief in "Katie the Cheat"? I couldn't help but feel sorry for him, and what Katie did there was no excuse for. The Chief was so proud of her, was toasting her, giving her his chair, and telling her she was going to make it big. All the while she was cheating and lying. He was so proud and then was let down so much, and in front of everyone. Katie condemns him for not wanting to be embarrassed in public. Well, who does? Katie talks to him really bad and says some very rotten things. Then to top it off the Chief finds out that Julie is involved in the scheme too. He has such a hurt look on his face when he's putting his belt back on. He goes from being angry to just being hurt. All he wanted was for Katie to have a good opportunity in life.

In "Katie the Cheat", I felt bad for the Chief to a point. He wanted Katie to have the best opportunities in life, but Katie had no interest in going to college. The Chief never asked Katie what SHE wanted to do with her life. Kaite cheated on her exam, because she was afraid that if she took the test and failed, her father would stop loving her; and she should have known that that was not true. On the other hand, for the most part, Katie never really seemed to be applying herself, probably because she didn't really believe in herself. She never believed that she could be smart. I think that deep down, Katie always thought that she could get by in life with just her looks. Unfortunately, she learned her lesson the hard way in Season 5 when she lost her business (However, she did become a buyer in the end). It would have been great if Katie had stood up to her father and told him what she wanted to do with her life. On the other hand, the Chief should have expressed more to her about the importance of having a college education, besides having a high paying job. So, in a way, I felt a little more sorry for Katie (for not believing in herself) than the Chief.
